Becoming obsessed with results and outcomes are a result of pmo in itself and the instant gratification we have become obsessed with just focus on the here and now and be grateful each day you made a conscious decision to stay away from porn and masturbation because if your always looking for results or when you will live in the future and will always have anxiety about it but the only thing real is the here and now

At the beginning I had shakes and other physiological symptoms of withdrawal. Those passed relatively quickly. Though withdrawal symptoms may linger longer than we want, they should also steadily wane. So, just because there may be some symptoms a year from now, doesn't mean it's going to be just like the first week. If you have a migraine today, maybe you'll have a slight headache in 2019, as an analogy.

Lmao thanks man, but doesn't porn being boring mean that I've already fucked up my dopamine receptors to a large extent? Isn't it normal to be turned on to see a sexy girl? Well in my case it isn't because as your addiction becomes worse, you move on to more severe/hardcore porn genres which as a result, desensitises your urges to seemingly "mediocre" triggers.

So i think abstaining from it completely HOPEFULLY allows for libido/urges to return to normal, I don't know if I'm talking bullshit but this is one of the big aims of nofap right?

Ps. I still feel like shit guys, it's almost as if I'm having methamphetamine withdrawal coupled with the flatline but I've experienced worse than this when I stopped coincidentally - so I'll just ride it for a few more days/weeks and give an update over here :( :)

  5. It really is a nightmare the longer you have been kindling with porn, my withdrawals have been similar to what I’ve seen on benzo forums.

How old are you? That could play a role.

  7. 24 years of age, ive spent the majority of time in a reboot since 2012. And Kindled many times unfortunately.

Feel those emotions because you ignored them with pmo what feel can heal be present with your thoughts and emotions and don't judge them and realize each day you are not using porn and masturbation is something to be proud and grateful and use this time to cultivate new ideas or hobbies

But it's really hard to take on new ideas or hobbies when on a flatline/withdrawal - like everything seems dull and grey. I am unmotivated to accomplish or do anything but to sit in my bed all day and listen to my tinnitus. Fucking sucks.

I don't want to discourage anyone who's just starting out on their nofap journey, but yes withdrawals or more specifically post acute withdrawals can definitely last 1-2 years.

For me like many others, the hardest part has been the emotional numbness/ anhedonia along with some pretty awful chronic fatigue. My withdrawal symptoms peaked around the 9 month mark I would say and it's been a slow and non-linear uphill climb since then. I'm about a year and a half in now.

I'd like to point out that I was a particularly bad case who started PMO pre-puberty and before any sexual experience (I'm 25 now) so that's definitely been a big contributor to the length of my recovery. Some people under different circumstances recover MUCH faster so don't be discouraged.

No matter how long it takes, eventually you'll come to the realization that abstaining from PMO is the only way forward. It's literally our only choice, guys.

You're gonna take it on the fucking chin but you'll come out so much stronger and better in so many ways. I've tolerated more emotional pain than I ever thought that I could and found strength within myself that I had no idea that I had.

Just keeping pushing forward, it will all be worth it in the end.

  11. I’ll have 90 days on NYE so I’ll be going into next year with a good start, fuck these shit withdrawals!!

Couldn't have said it better. NoFap is only as good as you use it to help make ALL things in your life better. You have to improve on the spectrum, not just staying away from porn.

this thread is important but not very encouraging. I have been reading and researching a lot about nofap for couple of weeks now and haven't read any of withdraw/flatline stories, only benefits. So at the end is it benefiting us or not?

It does but without struggle there is no gr
I mean the only other option is keep on fapping off and keep poisoning your soul it's like someone who is an alcoholic saying withdrawal symptoms are hard let me keep killing myself doing NoFap is the first step you gotta take action and be a part of your own rescue we are obessed with results because we think things happen over night when we been abusing pmo for yrs I have been guilty of being come obessed with results and relapsed many times after a couple a weeks or a month or two but I gotten so low the beginning of the year I told myself this shit has to end and have been on a streak for 8 months and feel better for it everday and I'm grateful for each day knowing I can start living life and going after things that give my life value and I have the faith that if I take action and learn from my failures I will be able reach my goals you gotta ride the wave if I can do it you can too

No I haven't had sexs nor is it my main goal my main goal is to stay committed to NoFap and my goals like becoming more social looking people in the eye also I have read and learned a lot of things instead of watching tv and playing video games all day sex isn't gonna help you recover you have to feel the emotions you have been hiding from pmo and see why you fell into it for me I learned my childhood I was the result of my low self esteem and I have come to peace with that each day but I don't feel guilty about my past and try not worry about the future just practicing being present and living my life and not beating myself up for not hooking up or having wed with different girls or even having girlfriend I do want to eventually find someone but I'm not looking for someone or something else for my happiness

thats great insight.. I was just wondering if having sex and orgasm (more natural oposed to pmo) wouldnt be actually healthy and benefitial for withdraw and depression

  18. Unfortunately, yes you can. These are called post-acute withdrawal symptoms (PAWS). After the initial phase of rebooting where you will always have withdrawal symptoms, PAWS usually hit you out of nowhere and they usually continue for a few days where you will face a great emotional pain. In my last long streak which lasted for 124 days, I relapsed due to one of these PAWS episodes.
You can read more about them here: https://yourbrainonporn.com/does-post-acute-withdrawal-syndrome-paws-occur-porn-addiction
