So I started off a few years ago, without a whole lot of knowledge, without a whole lot of confidence. About myself, about the world, about girls, about how to quit porn, about nearly everything. I am proud to see how far I have come, with the challenges I've faced along the way. But that's not what I'm here to talk about. I want some advice.

I've been going to college for 2.25 years and uni for 1.25 years. I honestly hate it. I constantly feel bad when I do poorly on my tests, I hate being a student. I hate the scheduling and regimentation, not the learning itself.

So this past month, a buddy and I, sharing the same dissent, started a business. Be it a simple construction business, we're obtained all the necessary legal documents, practiced on the side, got our labor poster thing, have a truck, and have a 9-month plan. We even have 4 lines of credit established.

I want advice. I don't want to go to UNI anymore. I am starting to feel as if it is a waste of time- I learn better from books anyways. My $5k/semester for teachers who barely help me to take classes and give me some busywork is not what I want to be doing right now. I don't even live on campus, so I feel as if some of the social benefits are negligible at this point. I liked doing a sport, but again, I stopped because of the specific time frame. I want to know what you guys know.

I have stayed motivated. It's not like I'm going to drop out to masturbate and play video games. I want to create something real in the real world. One thing that has helped me move up and on recently is the imagination versus reality. The imagination is great, it helps to create new things and improve lives because it mirrors reality. But it doesn't replace it, and you must act upon your goals how you imagined them to make them a reality. I don't want to be just a thinker anymore. I want to be a doer.

Now I am in a hard major- Physics and engineering tract, but my school requires me to take extra classes for foreign languages and general education classes. I also enjoy some of the lower time investment classes, but I am way too invested time-wise right now. I have stopped enjoying the learning, and it is just work now. Please, let me know what you think. If I am working, I want to be compensated, by myself, without a bossman. I keep getting the idea that this institution is overpriced, cliquey, and not a good time-investment.

Let me know what you think.

Sounds like you already decided you want to drop out, and you’re looking for validation in that choice.

It’s a legit choice. Unless you can see your major leading to a significantly more lucrative career, it’s hard to justify the expense of college. Doubly so if you’re not enjoying it.

Dropped out of college to be a conveyance utility worker making six figures with nothing more than a GED and a fast food income. I do not regret a single minute of that decision, because I have no debts, own my own house, three paid off cars, a wife and kids, everything a college grad is promised but without the college. It can be done.
