I've been desperate to quit porn for over one year now, but I've embarrassingly failed again and again.

A month ago, I started to go over the times I've relapsed to see whether there were any common signs before the relapse.

Turns out every single time I relapsed, I was scrolling social media for hours beforehand!

    Every single time.

It's become clear to me that my porn addiction is just another part of my greater dopamine addiction with social media being the greatest contributor to the addiction.

It's often the case that I end up on porn after I've gone through all the dopamine releasing content on social media and I'm seeking a greater dopamine spike.

Personally I've realised my porn use won't end until I also quit social media too and I think that's the case for a lot of other users here.

Social media is what gets us into the state of mindless scrolling, just wasting time looking for dopamine hits. To avoid porn we can't afford to be in this state, but thinking rationally at all times.

This is all without me getting into all the triggers on those platforms.

Tiktok, Instagram and Twitter are soft porn platforms at this point.

You're already looking at porn when on these sites!

Guys, if you're serious about quitting porn, get rid off social media too and I promise it will become so much easier.

I agree. Even if your algorithm isn’t curated to give you erotic content, and for a lot of us it is, the process of scanning titles and reading thumbnails to find the next thing that you want to see is too close to the porn thing too ignore.

There’s not much on those platforms worth consuming, anyway.

Totally true! Ive created my virtual harem around IG, even escalated to tiktok which I really hate. So, check new pics of these unknown girls is a great dopamine boost, if the pics are too spicy and time to time they are then the chances for pmo increase 90%? I try to sustitute it with nofap forum, and get dopamine from here… any other recomendation?

    Start reading books.

    1. It will teach you how to deep focus on one thing at a time
    2. You will be consuming useful content unlike on social media
    3. It will take your attention away from your destructive time wasting activities

I've started this too. Starting Lord of the Rings this week, bought myself a hard back so I'll always have it

If you were never a big reader or don't know any books you'll like, get a novelization of a movie you like, especially if it's well known or in a series. There are fantastic books on the Star Wars, Star Trek, Indiana Jones, and other movies

I would recommend to be careful what you watch on YouTube or quit YouTube for good. There are boatloads of Softcore content and even the mainstream videos are highly sexualized (way more in comparisson to the averagy guy's day). I would even go so far that Google image search (or any other search engine) leads for me to lot's of relapses. It feels like no matter how harmless the thing is that I search there will be always something sexual coming. Like type in "squirrel" and scroll down a bit and you'll see a girl in a thong and a squirrel costume.

I agree. Reddit was more P for me than news and SFW communities. I deleted it all, and blocked it from ever being used again: reddit, twitter, ig. To think I need these platforms is my addiction speaking. I dont need these platforms. I do need to confront my addictions. I couldnt watch tv or wait around in silence without mindlessly scrolling. It's not right. It's a huge problem with me and our society.

Social Media is basically P or softP if you wish. Specially IG. Many models announce their OnlyF there. So their intention with pics are more than clear. Even though you check normal people there is always a pic which stands out... bikini, dress... so the rush to check if there is any new post is very addicted. Specially with the promise of something spicy.
If I dont treat it as P I can indulge myself checking those "innocent posts" and creating perfect conditions for a relapse. And that is the trap, is not P. You can follow interesting topics, keep contact with people....blabla but for us it is P.

Nowadays the internet is full of adult content, never before has so much been done to destroy human feelings. Today we see a girl wearing a thong and stockings advertises an electric garden tool. The city is full of billboards where women show their legs and advertise a mobile phone. We simply live in a society without rules. One of the biggest changes you can make in your life is to replace bad habits with good ones. For example, using the internet only as needed. The Internet is like a city library. You don't go to the library and sit there among the books without reading a book on a particular subject. Why then do we use the internet for no reason? Isn't it like going to a library and sitting and reading different novels without reading anything in particular? I think that a person in a library, without any purpose, will sooner or later start reading erotic literature. It's the same with the internet. Employ your mind in community service.
