How many times has your brain said "oh it's ok, just watch porn" and rationalized you PMOing?

    Too many times probably.

So, don't get into a philosophical debate with your brain about porn addiction because It will trick you everytime. Your brain will say and rationalize ANYTHING to get you to relapse. This IS an addiction after all. Just say NO!!! If you have to, print out "I WILL NOT PMO BECAUSE...(list reasons why you don't PMO)" and put it up on your wall in your room.

I think it is also about getting out in a real environment, if you're left alone for too long the thoughts start to come, and why the hell not... You're alone... It is fine... Having good friends and family around you is also important I think, enjoy real relationships rather than the false ones in porn.

Yep, the brain can be very tricksy (to use a Gollum term). I've noticed one of its main tactics is to try to convince me that I can use P and have this new found energy and vitality I've attained since abstinence. The only reason I didn't before was because I was just being negative about it! That is my main gotcha, I've succumbed to this notion too many times but I'm not listening to these brain-lies any more!

You just gotta have self-motivation in your heart, to confuse your brain into tricking you XD.

  6. Can you elaborate?

Your brain is like a computer, you gotta program it to stay away from PMO.

What has helped me is not to look at my brain as my enemy, but rather as a misguided child. Sometimes I "parent" my brain, and have a mental conversation with myself that looks like this:

"Brain, I know you want PMO, but what you really want is to feel good. There's nothing wrong with feeling good. I want us to feel good also. PMO leads us down a dark path, so let's do something else that feels good."

Then I brainstorm and do that thing. Seems to work for me.

Recently I watched an old episode of Craig Ferguson where he talks about his addiction to alcohol.
He strongly asserts that he doesn't have a drinking problem but he has a thinking problem.
Addictions are a mental issue that influence how people think: whoever has a porn addiction is gonna have a lifetime on alert.

  13. Your brain is not your enemy and rational part of the brain models behaviors and does not exercise control directly.
Your rational brain is problem solver, you give it a problem and it computes possible actions you can take to solve it.
If you ask yourself what is bad about porn - it will give you a list of bad things.
If you ask it what is good about porn - it will give you a list of good things.
You ask questions - it gives answers.
It is not your buddy or your enemy, it solves problems you present.
