I haven't looked at pornography in over a month. I weaned myself off it with naked yoga videos for a few weeks. This method might work for someone else too.
It's nice that you're trying to be thoughtful but I don't think this is a very helpful thread. You might have newcomers that are starting a streak get the urge to go watch this out of curiosity. Also being so specific with videos and names is triggering to people. I am on a pretty secure streak myself but still had a pang of interest to google this name you've mentioned. The resources of NoFap and things like YourBrainOnPorn are pretty clear that edging, which releases dopamine hits, just serves to reinforce the unhealthy circuits we make with PMO in our mind. Also using one medium of self-pleasure inducement to justify not using another is classic addict thinking; it's a justification. Like I just read in a book yesterday case studies of pastors that use PMO because they feel their urges are too strong to resist and it's the only thing that stops them from having affairs with their congregation. The whole framework is delusional to begin with and evidences that they are still in the grip of addiction. I'm hoping that isn't the case for you and your intentions are good but I strongly advise against this advice you're trying to give for any new people reading this.
Dude, that's still porn. Porn doesn't have to be strictly about sex. Any video with a naked person in a sexual manner is porn. I'm assuming that the Playboy video is sexual in nature. I hate to say this but you've done nothing to get away from porn this past month.
Ya, I have to say I think any videos of naked women doing yoga is pretty much porn, or very close to that. I realize they are not engaging in sex, but if I watched one of these vids I'm pretty sure I would set back my recovery. OTOH, if this is helping you, I get that and that's cool. I just don't think it is the right way to go for most of us.
You're right about giving the name... I have gone back and removed it. Pornography is photographs or videos of people having sex or masturbating. Videos of naked yoga isn't pornography, and it is possible to watch a naked yoga video out of interest for yoga (just as how one can watch a normal clothed yoga video out of interest for yoga). As for the comment about what I've been doing for the past month, well it's a few months since I've watched naked yoga videos. I haven't looked at any porn/nudes/erotica in the past 32 days. I even cleaned up all the porn and nudes off my laptop (e.g. web browser autocomplete, downloaded clips).
Same here. This is exactly the sort of softcore porn that would be the camel sticking its nose way far under the tent for me.
What you're watching is pornography. You're looking at lustrous pictures of women. It's tame but it's still porn.
You’re doing well. Keep it up. For me I had to cut out anything porn or not that I found arousing. It had the effect of hijacking my brain and making me think about sex more than I wanted to.
I was the same way for the first week, almost anything could set me off. The gym got really bad a couple of times. I can handle it a lot better now. We are such an adaptable species. Unlike dogs. Give one a treat from your dinner table once and they will sit there for a year waiting for it to happen again
There is no "weening off" porn man. I tried to do the same thing many times. You have to cut it's head off if you want to kill it. Coddling your addiction keeps it strong.
There's another problem with this. Yoga is great for stretching muscles and it can also be used as a mental exercise for focusing one's mind. Like physical therapy, it's an activity that honors and heals the body no matter what state it's in. We only have one body and it will eventually decay and get diseased and we will die. But in the meanwhile we should treat it well, which is what yoga is about. This idea of perverting and commercializing yoga to line the pockets of some panderer is just plain wrong IMO. And if a person ever does want to seriously try yoga they're going to be stuck with these perverted images in their mind.
I think its a smart idea. Obviously it will still be having some kind of mind dopamine release, but obviously not as much dopamine as some hardcore pornography. I'm not gonna do it, since I am doing okay so far. Each to there own. The long term aim of no PMO is the same. Different people get there in different ways
True, but they might want to do yoga in the future and these images are going to pollute the experience.
