He describes what it does and the neural circuits involved. He explains dopamine peaks and baselines and the cell biology of dopamine depletion. Dr. Huberman includes 14 tools for how to control your dopamine release for the sake of motivation, focus, avoiding and combating addiction and depression. He explains why dopamine stacking with chemicals and behaviors inevitably leads to states of underwhelm and poor performance. He explains how to achieve sustained increases in baseline dopamine, compounds that injure and protect dopamine neurons, including caffeine, from specific sources. Dr. Huberman describes non-prescription supplements for increasing dopamine—both their benefits and risks—and the synergy of pro-dopamine supplements with those that increase acetylcholine. This is a great podcast. I haven’t finished it yet but so far it’s very pertinent to anyone with a dopamine addiction. He explains the really technical stuff in a way that even I can understand. Thanks for bringing it to us.
@Cyberpunk3000 listening to video gradually.just 40-50 minutes listened and it turns out to be really good. Thanks for posting.
Glad you're finding it useful. Am really happy to hear that. I really wanted it to reach as many people as possible. Anytime!
This was a great listen. Interesting to hear about baseline dopamine and dopamine peaks, and how peaks send you to lower than your baseline was to begin with. Also relatable to hear how when you engage in easy activities with high dopamine spikes you will find it harder/lose interest in pursuing normal activities for dopamine that require some effort, like working out or studying etc. Lots of interesting points and a well explained podcast, I'm inclined to check out other episodes by them. Cheers for sharing!
Exactly. Imagine how much Dopamine crash belwo baseline we would have caused ourselves over decades of abuse. We start to lose interest to the very thing which gives us the buzz. And lose interest to puruse things which are meaningful or rewarding for us as it would take effort. Basically making us into zombies. Thinking about it. I wonder if my vesicles have any Dopamine left in them.
So what strategies, tactics, protocols is anyone here doing so far or what has worked in the past to reset the dopamine receptors besides abstaining from PMO?
