Is listening to erotic stories and podcasts about explicit sexual content considered a form of pornography? I’m not jerking off to them but I guess it’s a bit of an outlet to help ween myself off the visual porn. Would you guys recommend I stop this too?
To flip this, any good podcasts people can recommend that align with sobriety from PMO? Motivational type stuff?
I read erotic encounters on quora and I tell you they are so much like porn that I masturbated thinking about re-reading them. Now its above 3 months I have left those things. You just need to focus on getting better. Then you will slowly but surely heal.Sending support.
The only one I found was an episode on a podcast called “Men’s Junk” and they devoted two episodes to NoFap. I haven’t been able to find much else that deals specifically with PMO but there are tons of self help podcasts for men which I’m sure will discuss this topic. (Please let me know if you find any)
Thanks, will look those 2 up. I find podcasts really handy even just on in the background for 'normal' stuff, so hopefully theres a few good ones about to keep and play when needed an extra kick to see sense!
Yes me too. I prob ingest more audio entertainment than tv these days. Of course I found some that are sexually charged as I’m on day 13 and thought it wasn’t a bad outlet…but it got the “juices flowing” so it gave me some pause
Why are you listenting to it? To get aroused, to feel 'something'. Then yes. Otherwise, why even listen to erotic stories then...
If it's hard to leave at first try this. Whenever you can't resist to listen to erotic podcast, make sure to listen to a motivational or comedy podcast just after finishing it. It might cushion the blow a little. P. S. Never tried before.
Legally, it may be considered pornographic. It may be less dangerous than a video. For example, American men can get arrested for having videos of certain types of porn, but I don't think they can get arrested for its literary adaptation. Video porn somewhat acts as photographic or video evidence unlike literature. Literature may provide more ways to escape reality than a movie can, so literature can be more dangerous in that sense. One tool that really helps my fight against porn is reality, so impairment of reality, or misinformation, is a danger for me. I guess erotic stories is yhe equivalent of reading the titles or descriptions of porn videos. But I like that you are pushing away from visual and audio porn. Visual and audio porn can be very damaging. Porn videos can pervert the image of women in your head. You might look at a woman outside and she might look like a woman in a porn video. Thus looking at women might trigger more sexual thoughts than normal because of porn videos. The same can occue with audio porn. A woman's voice in your local store might sound like a woman's voice in a porn video and thus remind you of porn. You'd likely get more sexual thoughts when you hear women speak, after consuming audio porn. After I quit video and audio porn, my sexual thoughts of women decreased a lot.
