This may seem a bit random but I've noticed that sugar plays a role in porn addiction. I've spoken to a couple of people who have noticed that sugar does affect them sexually. For me I have completed 90+ on a few occasions at this stage. First 2 times was unbelievable, i literally felt my brain rewire itself. But this time its a littke different. This time i decided to stop eating processed sugar, chocolate, processed food in general and just have a plant based diet with some organic meat. I feel and look a lot better but one thing i noticed is that rebooting seems way harder. Like a lot. The urges to act out are 10 times stronger and i have no doubt that this is because i have cut out another crutch in the form of sugar. Has anyone else experienced this? Have you tried cutting out PMO and sugar?
My SO said that last year he had a easier time with his Reboot when he did the 'China Study' based diet. (it's a book) have you heard of it? If not, maybe look into it if it's something you are interested in. Good luck!
The China Study is a book written in 2005 about how sugar and animals fats are bad for you. It's by T. Collin Campbell (I think that's how it's spelled) it says that having too much of these bad things leads to all kinds of diseases. Mostly physical, but it hurts your mind too. Based on a actual study done and evidence collected, to my knowledge... I however, haven't read it. Just heard about it. Endlessly. My SO got really into it for awhile. We eat mostly vegetarian because of it in our house. We watch what we eat and drink water for our main liquid. Even all our kids. No soda here! He made it 322 days before his first relapse/reset. So maybe there is something to this....
Thank you very much!!! This supports my thesis. My family concensus was "our teeth were made to crush plants". We don't have the teeth and body to support carnivorism (made up word, I know) (I think). It's just our belief and it works for us. There's a lot meat does to you, but "they" don't tell you that. I even heard veganism helps unlock more brain potential. "Ours is the theory."
Yeah I read the China study about 3 years ago. At the time I tried a vegan diet but I lasted about 6 days with no meat. Right now what I do is one day on one day off, as in one day of meat, the next day meat free. Seems to work for my body because without meat I get very weak and tired. Its real organic meat aswell, wouldnt touch the processed stuff. I honestly think that our diets were meant to be plant based with some meat. I;ve read too many stories of ex-vegans who became very sick and weak having been without meat for several years. But I definitely believe that we were not meant to eat processed sugar. Like I said, I feel better since I gave it up, even though The urges to PMO have amplified since I did.
When we do eat meat, we eat turkey and pork as well as the occasional fish. It makes the stretch in between able to sustain alot longer. (chicken and beef are bad- just my opinion, but after my own personal research, just bad. And that is all I will say) I'm aware people can get very sick. You need to know alot more about your own individual body than people give credit for before you attempt to change your diet so drastically. That is why anyone should start slowly. With doing any diet. One step at a time. You should be proud you figured out a way that works for you. Alot of people don't really try that hard to achieve goals or make self improvements. Consider this a personal win in itself. @BeautyForAshes my rule is- if you can use it in a sentence, it's a word. So there is that.
Thank you. You're very informative. I guess i'll start using "carnivorism" for now on(in health talks). The only meat I consume (on my weekly "cheat" day) is chicken. I didn't research it either, I just assumed it was safer. But, nowadays people want to "cut" products with substitutes and gmo, so it's hard to stay healthy. SMH. But, stay 'woke!
It's not. (chicken, that is. - still my opinion) I implore you to do your own research on this as I do not like linking articles, because then you and I would end up with the exact same opinions. Then what is the point of conversation? If someone finds different information, I'm perfectly capable of hearing their new information or perspective to further my opinion or knowledge. Every person you will ever meet knows something that you don't know. And so far, this is a informative conversation, with people who seem to share interest in self improvement, not just in mind, but in their whole lives, well roundedly.
Thank you for your perspective. I'm glad to meet people like you on here. This is one of the best things I've ever heard. It always existed in my mind as an abstract "shower thought", but I never conceptualized it into sentence form. Your SO is very lucky to have you (assuming SO= significant other). I do need to do more research into this. For example, I believe everyone fits into one of few known metabolic body types. So, a well formulated diet is good for everyone; especially those who know their bodies well. Since I have a soft spot for chicken, it will be amongst the first foods I research. I also researched into the "Alkaline Body". This thesis is that if your body is more acidic than alkaline, you'll be subject to a hosts of degenerative physical and mental diseases. The same conclusion the "China Study" suggests. I follow some of the teachings of Dr. Sebi, one of the advocates for an "electrical/alkaline" diet. It's been nearly a year since i've got sick.
SO is significant other. He requested that is how I refer to him here as we both prefer to remain anonymous. That way we can each get what we need from being on NoFap. Also, knowing about different body types is good, that way as you go through your diet changes, if something doesn't work, you can make better, more astute observations about yourself and your personal health, imo I'm very acidic. Naturally. It's a constant war. I was always told I smell sweet, like grapes (I hate this) but it actually means I'm close to illness. (a gross illness) so when I started to notice people saying this, when I sweat, I changed how I was eating and it started to make me feel better. I have low liver enzymes too. Doctors never would have noticed otherwise. Turns out keytones is my big problem, but because I changed my diet, I don't worry about B12 or diabetes (your body can't make glucose and keytones at the same time) . I control it all with food. When my SO decided to do the China Study diet, it simply wasn't that big of a deal for me. However, I think it turned out to be a great help for him, in his recovery also..we just didn't make the connection.
Consume sugar = sugar rush...everything is great you feel energetic. Sugar rush ends = crash...you feel low energy and low mood. Low mood = pmo. Pmo = rush followed by crash. Cycle repeats over and over. Infinitely deep pit of misery.
Lol. Just thinking about the name of this thread, "Porn & Sugar". That sounds like the title of a ditry movie.
Interesting topic. Just to give another point of view, this link has some articles to give some criticism of the China Study: https://deniseminger.com/the-china-study/
Ooh! I just got forks and knives! Been meaning to watch it! Is it good? (See, such thing as blocking furthering your own opinions and knowledge because someone has a different perspective than you? - that's unhealthy too)
