Hi guys, I've struggled with masterbation and pornography since I was about 18. I'm now 33. I was brought up a strict catholic and was pretty scared of sex and felt I couldn't have a girlfriend unless I was going to marry her. I felt this was unrealistic and instead turned to porn to satisfy my needs. I was also not that close to my mam which really hurt me but the guilt of all this has changed me and made me distant from my family. I'm not in a relationship and never have been in a proper sexual relationship. I've had girlfriends and one night stands but the sex has always been terrible. Growing up I had real body issues with my penis but I'm more content with it now. I never had anything to worry about but that was due to lack of confidence and guilt issues.
Ive realised for the last two years maybe that I'm addicted and I'm scared. I don't want to live the rest of my life like this so I'm reaching out to you guys. Please help me change my life. Last night I master bated for over 4 hours and feel shattered today.

You can try fasting for a day. Muslims do that for 30 days. As a muslim , my longest nofap streaks were these 30 days. But I am not sure if that will work on a Catholic man though.

    Fran,

First, you are not alone in this struggle, I am willing to bet that an enormous number of modern males (modern as being in the age of "transmission", i.e. TV/Internet/etc...) have the same problem. I was about to say "suffer" the same problem, but some guys are either not willing to admit they have a problem, or are just enjoying it too much.

My suggestion is to read as much as possible on this site, visit the journals and see others who are fighting this one day at a time. You can do this, but it will be tough, it may even physically hurt. But it is worth it.

    I suggest starting here: http://www.nofap.org/forum/showthread.php?2402-Get-educated-get-tools-and-learn-to-love-withdrawals

Reach out to others for help, and start a journal.

p.s. as a Christian, know that God is for you and not against you. He will help you if you reach out to Him

    Fran,

Welcome to the community man! You need to do a couple of things. Get educated on the addiction, start to expect the withdrawals and get ready for a though first 3 weeks as that is by far the hardest part.

    - get k9 on your computer
    - cutoff all unnecessary internet access
    - Take it one day at a time
    - Get an accountability partner

Hey. Have a look at my story. We are almost the same. Religious. Single. We are good people. But the evil rich bastards got to us by the way of porn. It sickened our mind and made us become addicts to wasteful ejculation. We need to wake up, take control of our minds and bodies, and resist the demons attempt to control us for the rest of our lives. Good luck to you brother . don't touch that penis.

Hi guys, I'm still abstaining from PMO for a week now but I know it's going to get difficult now, because I have failed so many times in the past. I'm scared and need your advice and support and encouragement.

Thanks and hoping you guys are finding peace. My accountability partner is great too.

I'm going through the LDS 12 step program while on this site, it doesn't matter if you're not mormon to use this guide the principles of putting your faith in God & Christ are the same, I highly recommend it; https://addictionrecovery.lds.org/?lang=eng
