    Hello all,
I've just came across the nofap community and I thought I would give it a try.
My story: I started watching porn at 13 and I'm 20 now. I feel that porn has negatively impacted my life. I started out with normal porn, it got boring and it escalated into hardcore domination porn and then to transsexual porn and then to gay porn. I can still get hard to straight porn but it has to be something hardcore and weird.I don't consider myself gay but I'm finding it more challenging to get turned on by women. This is the main reason why I'm starting nofap. I've also been depressed for as long as i can remember.
I just want to be able to go on a date and not worry about if I'll be able to get an erection.
So basically what should I expect from not fapping?
Also do you think porn is starting to make me gay? And is that reversiblile if so? I don't know what to expect from posting but I think I should start somewhere. Thank you for reading. Any advice is greatly appreciated

  2. Andy,

The short answer is "no". I'm no expert at most things but being gay is one of them. Dudes are either straight, gay or bi. If you started out straight you are straight.

The only thing that has happened is pmo. pmo for me has done the same thing. Fetishes (everything legal) that I used to find just plain weird became interesting to me. But, with only a week and a half I'm already starting to see myself back to normal (whatever that is).

So, porn did not make you gay. You can still find a girlfriend, you can still get married and have children.

If you haven't read the "getting started" guide on the home page, I'd recommend it.

All of this is explained in there far better than can I.

Good luck - you sound determined, I'm glad. Welcome again.

  3. You're not gay. Stopping porn has only positive effects. Stopping fapping all the time has positive effects.

It will be hard, it will take awhile, it will probably result in a relapse or two. But it will be worth it.

Can someone say what's the ultimate aim of rebooting? Is rebooting a one time process or should be constantly done?

  8. The purpose of a reboot is to help stop PMO and to allow your brain to rewire to its natural state, which PMO has messed up. Ultimately you want the reboot to be the first and last b/c afterwards you aren't PMOing any more.

Oh i see..... But after rebooting, is it considered that one should never masturbate?

  10. For most of us that is the goal. Madturbation is connected to the PMO cycle so you don't want to do it. Start Ming again and you might start watching Porn agin. Besides, another goal is to have better, more meaningful sex with a person rather than a laptop and your hand. If you're doing that, why would you need to masturbate??

Oh i see. So rebooting goal is to stop watching porn permanently? Also i can't consider having sex this age. I am only 19.so should i never masturbate till having sex?

  12. For most of us here stopping porn and masturbating is the goal. Masturbation isn't bad, but for many of us it's part of the addictive cycle of porn.

If you have healthy masturbation then you don't have to stop. Do you need to maturbate? Personally I say no. Results vary.

What is healthy masturbation? Is it okay once in a week?

I am starting a seven day challenge. I am gonna go pure a week, i shall win the battle with my mind but sometimes i become a slave but not this time. I am damn confident, i got relapsed now on thr second day.. But i am gonna start once again for a seven day. Can you help me someone?

  15. IMHO healthy masturbation is something you do infrequently, is not habitual and does not require viewing porn or rigorous fantasizing. The physical act of masturbating should itself be all (or most) you need to climax. You are a 19 year old male so you're horny as hell all the time so I'd say masturbation is probably par for the course.

Personally, after doing NoFap, working on my own porn addiction and therapy, I've come to the conclusion that I don't believe masturbation is not necessary or essential. I think that energy is better spent elsewhere: on improving ones's self or improving/developing relationships with real partners.

For me masturbation is like fast food--it will feed you but it leaves you feeling unsatisfied, wanting real food and affecting your overall health. Masturbating a lot desensitizes your palate so when you have real sex you may not notice/appreciate the subtle nuances of "flavors" that come with it.
