    Hello all!

You cannot believe what a relief it is to have found this community. I've read the Getting Started Guide and am so excited to dive into my reboot!

My addiction has brought my marriage to the brink of divorce. Before finding NoFap, I had tried several times to beat this addiction on my own. Feelings of shame are constant and I have felt weird and alone. Knowing that I'm not the only one going through it is giving me a great deal of confidence. Moreover, reading the success stories is has provided me with new levels of hope. I know I've been suffering from PIED for more than a decade, but never put it together until I got married several years ago. My wife and I are still together and I've promised her I'll kick it and she is being supportive.

I'm already 5 days in and feeling good, although urges are creeping there way into my brain. Everyone here has given me a strong dose of willpower to get through!

Thank you all and I'm looking forward to going through this process, offering support of my own and finally finding the relief from this life-altering addiction.

  2. Hi @drpants
Glad you are here. And very welcome to join us in our journey to a healthy, fulfilling life without any self harming habits.

It's a safe place here. We all are in the same boat, so there is no single space for judgement here.
Maybe it's a good idea to keep a journal. Sharing your struggles, thoughts and feelings may help you to understand the underlying issues.

Keep coming back and get the most effort out of nofap!
You don't need to do it alone!

I wish you lots of luck!

  6. Hey @drpants it is great that you have made it here. Have you read the book ``Breaking the Cycle?'' It goes far in depth into the addiction and many tools to combat it. It is a lifesaver for many here. Also I would check out the video ``your brain on porn'' by Gary Wilson. It is what got me to start trying to get away from PMO.

@Applehead Thanks so much for the recommendations, I'll certainly check them out. I just went through a major urge, the strongest yet, and was able to curb it because I could point my browser here and see not only my counter, but others! Whew! That said, the more I understand the science, the more it helps me want to break the pattern, so your suggestions are much appreciated. Thanks again!

Hello friends. I'm upset with myself because I went about 26 days back in December and got arrogant about my progress. I was able to have sex with my wife, which was always a problem do to PIED -- so I relapsed and thought I'd be okay. However, for the last month I've been watching porn and masturbating. I was afraid to come back here and post about it, but I need to get back on the wagon.

How do you overcome the incredible urges that arise from your abstinence to porn/masturbation? Who has some guidance in that department? I was thinking every time I have the urge, I would make a deal with myself that I have to visit nofap first... I'm able to be disciplined like that. This is much more difficult that I anticipated.
