New and eager to begin the 90 day challenge

Discussion in 'New to NoFap' started by Deleted Account, Apr 28, 2018.

  1. I am a 37 year old man who is married with a very patient and loving wife. I started PMO when I was just 7 years old and when I got the internet, it got much worse. I was at my worst as a teenager, then with the strength of willpower, I was able to cut back but I think the chemical changes exposed to PMO impacted my life substantially. I want this to stop completely. I have always tried to quit completely, and up until now have gone 2 or 3 weeks at a time without porn. It will end, I know it will. I want my life to change for the better. Thank you for your time.

    Welcome!

You can and will succeed. It won't be easy at times but everything does get better eventually.

  4. Welcome. Glad you are here.

Take some time to read the reboot material (available here => http://www.nofap.com/getting-started) and come up with a plan for what you will do when you are faced with urges. It has good advice, so don't skip it! :)

Perhaps start writing a journal - if you feel comfortable telling people about happened and what's going on now, you will start to feel accountable to them. You may even inspire others. It's a nice feeling! This will help your recovery.

Also, try to add something into your life that makes you the kind of person who doesn't engage in PMO. Think about doing:
    Something you enjoy
    Something you're good at
    Something important
Something for somebody else, without thought of reward (and if you DO get an unintended reward, do something ELSE, perhaps for a different person or group).

Read the journals of others - we all learn from each other. For example, I received the above good advice from a far more experienced member of the community who shared his knowledge. Don't just stay within your own age group or part of the world. Share your knowledge in a respectful way. Read, learn, apply.

Look around the forums, get to know people. Everyone is friendly, and will try to support you. We're all in the same boat here. :)

Be kind to others and others will be kind to you, both here and IRL.

I wish you a successful reboot.

  5. Your words are very kind, and very wise. I will take them seriously and make sure to participate as much as I can. Thank you from the deepest recesses in my heart.

Hi Wolfus Extremis! Welcome aboard! We're glad you're here!

For me its helped so far.

I like to read the threads and once I read all the posts I make a reply too. So far so good. I really relate so much to everyone else and thats one of the most helpful things to me right now. Just feeling understood.

In just these last week or so I am already feeling passionate about things in my life again. It is slowly coming back. Good thing its not too fast :)
