Hi, I’ve joined here after reading the book Your brain on porn.
I was recommended to read the book through very unfortunate circumstances I won’t go into.

Reading the book was tough. What I had thought was my 9 year long relationship had broken up due to us drifting apart, the book told me different, and it was right.

I am 46 in 2 months, and discovered porn at approx 10 or 11, after finding magazines and videos that my dad had.
I remember discovering masturbation around the same time, and as time went on I use did it more and more.
It’s safe to say I’ve had a huge amount of porn and masturbation in my life. My first job at 19 involved staying in hotels 2-4 nights a week, every night or stay resulted in buying a new porn magazine or two to enjoy in my room. At home we got satellite tv around 1988, and that led to finding stuff on there too. I had various VHS tapes too. It more unusual if I didn’t masturbate every morning and night than if I did. Literally multiple times a day for decades. Then of course the internet appeared in my life around 2000. That involved hours and hours spent edging and clicking through countless galleries. 4 years later broadband arrived, streaming video and tube sites lengthened these epic 3-4 hour sessions.
    Every morning, every night.
I put weight on, lost interest in doing stuff around the house. Couldn’t be bothered to wash my car, my pride and joy that was never dirty. You get the idea.
So here I am, after approx 35 years of massive porn use it’s time to change.
I must note, over those years I’ve had various partners and king term girlfriends. From what I’ve read, it seems I’ve been very lucky that t never affected my ability to perform with them.

So that brings me to now.
Last Sunday was the last time I watched porn, I’ve not had the urge to view any since. Total cold turkey.
I have masturbated three times during the last week, which seems crazy to think that in the past a week could be an average of 15-20 times.
I have a girlfriend who is currently living a long way apart, so texts and photos do get intimate at times.
Interestingly, the first time that happened after not watching poem for a few days it was the best orgasm I’ve had for ages!!
So that’s me, and here I am.

    Thanks.
I’ve found it surprisingly easy this week to avoid porn. Tbh, I’ve not even had an urge to look at it.
One thing I have noticed is the amount of sleep I’ve had compared to usual! I think I must be on a serious catch up for all the late nights I’ve wasted
