It really doesn't make sense to me. Society portrays PMO as harmless and constantly jokes about doing it everyday and as often as possible. So why isn't like 50% of the male population effected by this. If everyone does it and its perfectly acceptable we should all be PMO addicts?

But I mean like real true addicts, with social anxiety and PIED symptoms.

  4. There are probably more addicts than you think. The majority of addicts don't know they are addicts. I certainly didn't realize PMO was the cause of my social anxiety until I read the lit.

Most that become addicted do so during adolescence and live in an environment that fosters the behavior. Bad home life, abusive parents, traumatic experience, bullying... Some are predisposed with genetics, similar to alcoholics, and when exposed to pmo in high quantities "find their calling" so to speak. It's complicated but I heard a statistic that half of all men Struggle with some form of sex addiction whether they know about it or not.
@mike123 if you have severe anxiety, much like I did when I lived in the addiction know that it gets better with time.

What exactly do you mean by this, it gets better as you become free of PMO or just time in general. How does it get better?

It gets better over time with no pmo. I find I can communicate w women better. Your conscience is playing a larger role than you think. It holds you back from truly opening up because of the shame involved with pmo.

for me my communication with men and women, my nerves, mood and my ability to remember are strengthened and getting stronger as my challenge progresses. social interactions are no longer painful as they were during the addiction. trust me life gets more manageable, life is always going to be hard but the trick is to keep a face of strength on at all times and keep pushing forward no matter what happens.

Probably the same reason that some people can smoke pot and drink without it ever becoming a problem, while others like me can not stop once we stop and it ruins our lives. Some people are just predisposed to addiction, it's one of medicines/psychologies mysteries. I do think though, porn has the same effect on our views and attitudes towards women around the board, some/most people just don't care or don't see it as a problem.

  11. Why aren't they affected? Maybe because they're having ACTUAL sex instead of a cheap simulation of sex.

Having actual sex doesn't solve anything. I used to think once I got married my pmo problem would go away but it got worse.

Same with alcoholics, for example, which is a problem of mine as well. 1 in 10 people who drink regularly become alcoholic. I imagine the same percentage is true for online porn addiction. It's the way the pleasure center of the brain is wired in certain people with a disposition toward having that dopamine kick.

@Justquit, you are right, having a girlfriend or wife or daily loving sex does not stop you from having a porn addiction, and the addiction will most like ruin any such relationship. The loving female in question simply cannot compare to the addictive lure of thousands of willing partners a click away. And those "clickable" partners don't give a damn about you either.

It's funny, I just joined this site a few minutes ago after I was doing some research on Monarch Mind Control and the porn industry. That's worthy of another whole thread, but i do wonder how much of the stuff out there is really spawned by traumatized slaves. Which makes me feel even dirtier for having whacked off to it.

I believe its like others have said in this thread. Most people don't realize its an addiction. Its something that has become accepted in our society.

Because everybody doesnt abuse it, Fapping is indeed s bad addiction, but just like drinking alcohol, it can be managed, people who fap maybe once or twice a month, and dont let it consume them and still go out and exercise/socialize/stay busy with their lives and barely ever think of masturbation, are not addicts. Just like people who only drink on special occasions. It is when u are fapping and/or watching porn 3 or more times a week, and the only thing you want to do on your spare time is fap, thats when it becomes a problem. It is possible to do it occasionally and not be an addict. Thats how it is for most people, I know a lot of peoole talk about how they fap and have sex all the time, but they are exaggerating.
