    Hello to everyone

I am curious to hear why you choose to start the NoFap the specific moment.
    What triggered this decision?
Do you know why you started to stop masturbation?
Is something happened that time which lead you to NoFap decision?
How many of you, felted that sexual fantasies was increased dramatically that time and that's why you decided to start NoFap?

My experience has started because of a tremendous increasing of sexual fantasies. So I decided to start NoFap to limit fantasies and save my energy.

    Which are your experiences?

Minerander thank you very much that you share that with me.

I am a guy which always thinking that there must be a reason. Is there a chance there was a reason but you haven't realise it until now?

I am sure that you can overcome the 7 days and go further. What stops you at 7 days?

  3. I was wondering whether I could masturbate without porn or erotic visualization, so I typed in the question to a google search, found this website, read some of the lit, and joined the next day.

That's great. Thanks for sharing that.

If I was in your shoes, I would input a message, which will prompt me to consider twice what I have in my mind about porn and I would input that message above the password inside the book. What would you like to say to your self?

I am sure that you will succeed this time and reach your goal.

Mumchance that's great also. Timing is everything. I wonder why you think to masturbate without porn. What lead you to that thought?

About a year or more ago I realized I had a porn addiction but I googled it and all I got was some Yahoo answers which weren´t really helpful so I thought the only way to get rid of the addiction would be to search for some kind of group in my town you know like AA but I didn´t really want people to find out about it, I was embarassed, so I didn´t do anything about it. Then, on November I started reading a book which I really recomend a lot called Models by Mark Manson(it´s about attracting women through honesty, by being your best self and not being afraid to show it) and there it says that you should stop watching porn and then on the author´s website I found an article which contained Your Brain on Porn video so I watched it and it really opened my mind. And then I watched the Ted Talk The Great Porn Experiment and thats where I heard about NoFap and that´s it. I´m here. 5 days without PMO first try. Trying to quit forever. Can´t wait to see the changes in my life though I know I have to make them myself. NoFap is just what helps us get a better life but it´s not gonna change by itself. Stay strong and good luck on your journey.

    Hello iisme.

Thank you for sharing your experience. The NoFap experience is totally a spiritual experience which will transform our brain. Stay strong and keep with you the confidence you have that you will succeed in this challenge. I am wondering if you know that you are stronger than porn and you can make it easily.

I joined NoFap about 6 months ago. Before joining NoFap i usually found my self seeking for P or M. First when i started M (about 6) years aback, It was fun but when my interest increased dramatically in P and M. I googled for that and found that i am one of those who are addicted to PMO. It was like a nightmare. Though PMO was a way to fulfill my sexual desires ( I have no GF and never had!! :p) It made me worry about me and my future. I was not able to concentrate in studies. When i got some thought of M or P, i had to Masturbate. I couldn't stop my self from doing that. If i try to stop my self i feel anxious and couldn't concentrate well on my work so to avoid that i continued Masturbating. At a point of time i realized that it is affecting me badly in my life. I couldn't talk with girls properly because when I see a girl i start fantasizing about sex. I started feeling anxious about my future and then I found some guys posting videos on Youtube. They were talking about NoFap and its benefits. I decided to join the community to give myself a chance to improve. So that was my journey to NoFap. :)

When I realized I spent more and more time PMO'ing and wasn't able to perform properly with my wife, and finally connected the two. Then googled myself to YBOP and had a bit of an epiphany and decided there and then to try nofap.

  10. Cannot remember what triggered me to search the web. Ended up watching a video on youtube of a guy talking about the effects of long term porn use since the introduction of high speed internet. He was a down to earth guy and everything seemed feasible. In his chat he said "There is even a movement of men who call them themselves Fapstronauts". I looked up fapstronaught and after probing nofap.com for a few days, i acknowledged that I was not alone and mentally ill (well i hope not anyway).

It's more easier when we know that we are not alone or the only one who did this.

I am sad that I haven't realised my addictions earlier. But I am extremely happy that eventually I did found this place. And this is all that matters.

ClearAsMud thank you for sharing your story. Please stay focus to your goal of 90 days (and more)!!!! I am sure that you will be the winner! We are getting stronger day by day.

Minerander self control is definitely the most important thing. I installed K9 web protection but makes my browser slower. I uninstalled it but I am sure 100% that I will not going to search for any porn, because I know myself very well and I trusted me. I hope for you to work in a similar way. I wish you to complete the 90 days NoFap challenge either the one or the other way.

I found NoFap by pure chance. I'd just had my first PMO of the day after three or four a day for the previous week, went on Twitter and saw someone say that this site existed. Before that, I'd dismissed any ideas that this was an addiction, thinking it to be relatively normal. Indeed, most of the tweets in reply were very much of a mocking nature - "Like you can be addicted to masturbating!" or "That's not a problem, that's great!". It was almost like the voices I'd had, heard and read, telling me that it is normal.

But I had realised that this was a problem. This was something I did particularly when I felt low. I saw the tweet and followed it up - searched for NoFap and read pages and pages of stuff. So much of it just seemed so relevant to me. And the benefits seemed like the things I wish I could improve about myself the most! Not least the clearing of brain fog!

I'll be honest, I'm on day 30 now and I haven't noticed a significant difference, other than that PMO just feels wrong, somehow. I guess taking a step back reminds me of the emptiness I often felt following PMO, something I never want to return to. But I have masturbated since I was 13 years old - oddly enough, upon reflection, when the brain fog started to descend. Coincidence? Perhaps - it was largely without porn up until I was about 23 (I am now 30) - but I guess that it has been there for so long and it has gotten so thick that it will take a fair old while for it to clear.

    Until then, onwards!

Shia thank you for sharing that with all of us. It is very important for all of us to realise what have we done with our past actions.

The benefits of the Nofap challenge are not obvious in the same time for everyone. So, keep your focus strong and you will realise the benefits very soon. You will look then back to today and you will realise the difference in your path life.

I don't want to go back on masturbation and porn ever either!!! It's a promise.

Interesting about the fog! Very felicitous word for porn and masturbation! May I borrow this word? Well done.

Keep going and conquer your goal and please keep us informed about your progress.

I think you misunderstand brain fog, docker. Brain fog is where the brain doesn't think clearly. Thought process don't work properly and concentration can be problematic, often because of an overload of dopamine in the brain as a result of PMO. It's not the obsession itself that is the fog, but an effect that it causes.

Schia, I am sorry if I gave the impression that I didn't understand the brain fog.

Dopamine is a great factor. It is a neurotransmitter and a hormone also. Dopamine and serotonin are going hand by hand and it is critical to be balanced. They produced euphoria and happiness. That's why we noticing high amount of dopamine while someone is masturbating. Both of them affected the neural system. That's why someone feels fatigue after sex or masturbation. Because he/she expels these chemicals out of his/her system. The abstinence/celibacy helps the body to retain these factors in the neural system and keep them in balance (nutrition plays an important role also). Dopamine affects the production of the prolactin from pituitary gland, which based on the brain. High prolactin produces lack of sexual desire and had noticed also can produces tutors in the brain. Prolactin decreases if dopamine increased.

High amounts of dopamine (high concentration of dopamine is in the animal feeds!!) can lead to psychosis and schizophrenia. Psychosis (don't be afraid of the word - it's just a word) is a kind of addiction. That's why many individuals have the tendency to "escape" in a different world than reality (idealization), in their trying to increase their dopamine and feel happy (lack of serotonin leads to depression)! If I masturbate often, I will decrease the serotonin and I will feel depress (high dopamine-low serotonin and vice versa).

The same principles applies to drug addict people, psychotic and intuitive personalities. People who likes to daydream often (fog thoughts), who have speech abnormalities, obsessions, addictions, drug addictions, or anything else that is somehow different and thinner in the thought process, are the people who has the most tendency for porn which leads to masturbation. Somehow the same fog is in their brain process but affects different areas in a different way.

It's not coincidence that the same fog can be transmuted in a more creative and spiritual path. This is the correlation between monks and their sexual abstinence, drug addict people and artists, etc.

The fog thing is a huge subject. We are here to dissolve the fog, not dissolve our self through porn and masturbation.
