This Addiction Is Destroying My Life

Discussion in 'Porn Addiction' started by Deleted Account, Mar 27, 2019.

  1. Hello People,

I never leave my house. Only when I go to school. I still live with my parents. My EQ is quite low. I don't know to initiate conversations. Only when someone asks me a question. I go to a community college. Working on a certification in the IT Industry. That's the good part, btw. Here's the bad part. I have been getting fatter and feel terrible about myself every day of the week. I don't have a driver's license, either. I don't have a job, either. Not having a job may sound great, but in retrospect, it's bad news. I don't have any work experience at all. The only work experience I have is working at a food bank. But that was for community service. So, I'm completely lost. I'm lacking purpose in my life. I guess going to school may sound like I know what I'm doing, but really I don't. I PMO about 2-3 times a day. I discovered porn at the age of 13. I quit cold turkey successfully for 4 years. Then, I discovered porn again at the age of 17. Been in the constant cycle of PMO every day. What's your advice on how I should better my life? Thanks for your replies.

  2. If you have spare time, I highly recommend reading Awaken The Giant Within by Tony Robbins. That book is a game changer. Best book I have ever read in my life.

  3. I highly suggest staying away from tech unless it's for school. You need your driver's ASAP. Especially from an evolutionary perspective, an independent man is what a woman wants. Getting a car can show just that. If you want a girl dude, don't stay with your parents. You are working on your purpose with the IT certification from school. Don't sweat it. As long as you study for that, you should be good.

  4. I got something for you. It's Stoicism. But the advice in this book will help you conquer many of life's obstacles and develop mental toughness for yourself.

    Tony Robbins is good.
Try Look up Law Of Attraction Coaching on YouTube.

But yes, we all got to beat this sh*****
A man who has control and works has things going for him on life. You can do it. We can all do it. I'm sick of messing up.

  6. "The Power of Now" by Eckhart Tolle is a good read. Helped me thru a difficult time in my life. Very similar to what you're going thru.

  7. I'll read that book. Got money for Amazon. From gifts lol.

  8. Great choice. I went thru an existential crisis last week. Definitely adding that book to my list.

  10. To add to the book recommendations (currently reading the power of now myself) I'd recommend a book called 'Feeling good: The new mood therapy' If you think you have depression. Infact, first thing that book does is get you to fill a questionnaire in that diagnoses depression and how extreme it is. It's a good book in general even if you don't have depression as it teaches you to deal with negative thoughts in general (cognitive behavioural therapy). Irrational negative thoughts plague our mind and cause us to experience negative emotions. Cognitive behavioural therapy is about challenging those thoughts.

Even if you literally have nothing, you are no less worthy than anyone else. And you are not alone in this battle. Although everyone else seems to be happier, there are people battling this stuff with you.

  11. Curb your usage overtime until you can quit porn. Stop connecting porn and sexual pleasure, means do not masturbate to it.
Part of your social anxiety is probably pornography related, as you stop you will feel more confident.
Outside of that you are dealing with what everyone is dealing with, if you have achievements they help your condense of you dont have them they dont, so your have low confidence which makes you question every step you take.

Make it your goal to spend lets say 1 hour every day outside of your home when you are usually there. This means going to library, looking for work, walking abound the block, what ever it is, just not in your house, not in the place you normally sit. Make that longer overtime.
Eventually your brain will suggest something useful you may do and you will have something to do you enjoy.
