I'm glad to see that a resource / community like this exists. Its sometimes difficult to talk to friends / partners about such issues. After many failed attempts to go it on my own I'm glad I have found this place and hope that I'll make more progress within a community of like minded people.

    Reasons for joining:

    • Stop looking at almost all women as wank-bank material
    • Reduce judgement based on appearances and get to know people better
    • Stop using masturbation as a stress relief mechanism instead of dealing with underlying causes
    • Stop wasting time on porn
    • Move away from watching increasingly extreme porn
    • Increase mental strength
    • Reduce effect of / mental reaction to external stimuli i.e. hot women used by media everywhere
    • Stop using PMO as a time filler / procrastination tool - also avoid other time fillers
    • Increase sensitivity
    • Increased energy levels - based on previous attempts - don't know if this was a physical response or down to feeling good about having the willpower to stop for a few days
    • Eliminate the feeling of weakness after trying and failing to stop
    • More enjoyable sex

    Goals

    60 Days no PM

Best of luck / Stay strong all :)

Ok. So day 1 and I've caught my thoughts wandering to this area a couple of times already. It feels liberating to know you're not going to do it. Wonder how long this will last.

Keep your mind busy and be mindful of your thoughts. A great recovery acronym to be mindful of is HALT:
Be extra careful not to get too Hungry Angry, Lonely, or Tired. This are general triggers that may make you want to escape.
Keep your head up, find an accountability partner with similar goals. Keep posting and returning to this board - you may slip, but you'll never fail if you stick with it!

So I had a bit of a stumble on day 2. Found an old stash and had to reset my counters. Back on track now though. 3 days and counting. Had a few moment of boredom / stress where I've almost regressed, but so far so good :)

Sorry to hear about the slip. Unfortunately, I think we've all been there.

Did you get rid of the stash you found? P isn't really a part of my life now, but it used to be, and I remember deleting / trashing it to be a liberating experience.

Thanks. Got rid of the stash. Now P free (except for the internet, but that was always there)! Had another slip. Just the libido boost after week 1 I guess. No P though. Just MO. Feel confident that I'll pass that hurdle on the next attempt now that I know what I need to watch out for. Thanks again for the support!

Hi all. So I'm managing without P, but really struggling with the MO bit. I know P is the main thing I'm trying to avoid but I'm looking for the full reboot. Old habits die hard I guess. The thing I found myself doing initially was fantasizing about the old stash. More recently I'm fantasizing about real life people, which isn't too bad, but its preventing the full reboot and its not helping with any of my original goals. I'd just like to say I appreciate this wonderful community full of inspiration that has helped me get this far and helped me understand myself a bit better.

I'm doing OK on the P at 40 days but I'm struggling with MO so I'm going to start working on that now. I've changed to the single counter.

Welcome to the forum. We need to recognize that porn is not just porn but fantasizing about it is also wrong. If you want to truly recover you need to stop thinking about porn.
Masturbation in itself is not the problem, people were masturbating before the advent of high speed internet porn, and they were fine. The problem is that nowadays one cannot separate masturbation from porn. And internet porn is causing one to masturbate compulsively. It creates an artificial need and no matter how much one masturbates it's never enough. Internet porn is making us think that our sex drive is much higher than it is in reality. With internet porn one could masturbate 5-10 times a day, but without it you would masturbate once or twice the most. For years I tried stopping masturbating, thinking it was the problem, but was I wrong. Once I stopped looking at porn my desire to masturbate really went down.

What I did is set up two counters, one for porn and one for masturbation. I would MO if I really felt the urge, so MO'ing once in a while wouldn't be a problem as long as I don't think about porn while doing it, but I would do everything in my power to NOT reset the P counter. That is the only one that counts.

I recommend getting educated about porn addiction and how to stop it, so I suggest reading through these threads. http://www.nofap.org/forum/showthre...ave-you-actually-Prepared-for-it&goto=newpost and http://www.nofap.org/forum/showthread.php?2402-Get-educated-get-tools-and-learn-to-love-withdrawals.

So after some serious progress it all sort of went downhill. I think I made it to day 45 without P and about 14 days without MO. Ready to start again though. Counters all reset and ready to go.
