Hey, just thought I'd share a tip- I have been doing 20 mins of morning and evening hatha yoga sessions combined with mindfulness meditation and sexual transmutation for around a week now and it has worked wonders for keeping urges away. Anyone else have this experience?
I am a huge fan of yoga. In fact I started off with Rodney Yee's power yoga collection. He's awesome. There's so many types but I've only heard of hatha yoga. Yoga itself is a form of meditation. It can be spiritual in a way. Keep it up. I've been doing yoga ever since I broke my back from doing mma. I love intensity but power yoga is different. There is no aggression or anger as in mma and your mind and body are totally relaxed. I love yoga. And I guess it can help with pmo as well.
I do it whenever I have time. Since school will be over soon, I plan on doing it more plus extra workouts in the gym. I'm going to try to do it everyday.
I had such a rough day yesterday and realized that I hadn't done yoga in 3 days.... It's amazing what that exercise does for me.
my friend yoga is not a physical exercise, it is a way to go beyond the limitations of the body and mind, it is a spiritual process. unfortunately westerners have made it into a physical exercise. Its like using a fighter jet only on the tarmac and not for flying. the health benefits are the side effects of yoga Hope you see yoga in a new light from now on.
I have yet to do yoga, but both sitting meditation and Qi Gong have helped me to personally be much more mindful / aware of urges and aware of what's going on in my mind. I think that's something these things have in common with yoga - a more solid, peaceful mind-body connection will help you nip an urge in the bud!
I'm glad that you recognize this. In fact, I was turned off from Yoga initially because of the superficial culture surrounding it in the States.
In the case that all of you all know the real benefits of it, check this out. An amazing book. http://www.dlshq.org/download/brahmacharya.pdf May all of you have the strength to strive on until you cross this ocean of samsāra into the abode of the Absolute!
very true, the US has made yoga into a big joke, they have yoga for six packs, yoga for sex, hot yoga (very bad for the body) , all kinds of ridiculous studio yoga, they've made it into a circus, which is very unfortunate.
Brahmacharya is a very fantastic path but very difficult for some people. People who follow it will definitely reach the ultimate in life but not everyone can do it.
The last time I was made aware of Rodney was on the side of a City Mattress truck I believe right down the street. He was sitting in a yoga posture taking a deep breath on a mattress. Ok.
Classic link. Never will there be another of its kind. Not in our time nor any of our civilization's future generations' times. Civilization will fall before another swami rises in the world and breathes those kind of words out onto something like the internet. I appreciate it but do not rely on it as I take the Buddha's teachings as my map or blueprint for this type of stuff. I consider Hindus to be a sister, or brother if you prefer. Same truth we are after really.
