People in the forums here keep talking about 'Edging'. What exactly does 'Edging' mean? Can anybody explain? (quoting trustworthy source if there's any)

Hi buddy, edging is throwing away sexual energy without releasing.
Example:Watching porn without masturbation, touching yourself without orgasm, watching hot pictures, reading erotic stories bla bla.

Hey buddy. Edging is the process of touching your private parts for feeling pleasure. It is worse then ejaculation because after ejaculation, the dopamine that your brain released is being used and fades away but when you do edging, the dopamine released could not be used and remain in your brain and force you to watch porn, erotic contents etc. till you fap. So Do not try to do edging.

Edging involves staying in an aroused state for an extended period of time.
In most cases you end up with an O, but some people edge and stop before the O.
Edging is probably the most dangerous aspect of pmo addiction as it floods your brain with chemicals for an extended period of time, and your brain is just not built to handle it.
This is one of the reasons you get side effects from pmo addiction.
If you haven’t read gary wilson’s “your brain on porn” yet, i highly recommend it.

So if someone has edged but didn't M so should he M or not to release dopamine or controlling further urges will do the necessities.

    Any experiences with edging anyone?

Yeah i done it few times, edging without M and O,i can tell you it going to make things worse but i have to say something about that.
Maybe most people will not agree with me,but everyone is different and not react same, but i can more easily resist edging than PMO relapse, why?
When when i done PMO or just MO i would feel drained, tired and broken for next 2-3 days(depending on situation).I edged few times with porn for about a 1 hour, what happened? To the rest of that day i was just confused,no tired,no broken or lost feeling. And day after i have been feeling about the same how i was before edging.I think my body have hard time to handle orgasm, that's why i feel bad for few days.
I was feeling confused after edging because of dopamine rush.I have heard that humans need 2 days minimum to recover from orgasm.
I don't say edging is good,i said edging even in duration of 1 hour will make you feel less worse than PMO once.I said that for myself, because nobody is same, everyone is little different. You might will create chaos in dopamine after 1 hour of porn, but you will feel better than doing PMO once(at least me).I didn't edged very long, but if i do i try not to O,because it will be nightmare.

As others have described, edging is masturbation that you take to as close as you can to cumming and then stop. In extreme cases you spread it out for hours at a time and/or over many days before you finally release. It is very damaging because it conditions your brain to expect/crave the prolonged high doses of dopamine that result. From a physical point of view it often leads to blue balls and/or can reduce or eliminate your ability to get hard with a real life partner because your body has become conditioned to respond primarily to self stimulation and specifically, your hand on your D / balls when a normal response is to be sensitive to the touch of another, on many areas of your body. When you combine that with the stimulus of P (or even Psubs like hot chick pics, erotic stories etc.) it gets even worse as you are now reinforcing that as a required component of the response equation.

Believe it or not, some "experts" advise edging to a) increase your staying power and b) shoot bigger loads. Note, though, they advise this assuming you are having regular sex with a partner. There is absolutely no benefit (and many harms) from edging in place of sex with a partner. I can also say from experience that long term edging actually reduces the time you can maintain a quality erection (especially without constant self stimulation), can negatively affect your length/girth and can make it so you literally can't perform in real life or only in a limited number of circumstances or positions. As far as load size, it can make a marginal difference and big loads do matter to some women but in those cases, the edging is confined within that time you are with your partner and is more a process of cyclical intensifying and decreasing of arousal--which is a normal part of good sex and you should each be doing for/to each other, not on your own.

Many words to answer a simple question but more important than knowing what it is is knowing it's really bad. If you don't do it, don't start and if you do, figure out how to stop.

In addition to what my friends said, I want to say that I have read several (unconfirmed) articles about a relationship between edging and prostate cancer if you do this for a long time.
