Hello, I am the ex-wife of a sex addict. I am curious to know the timelines of when things went from magazines to video to low speed internet porn to high speed internet porn. I know magazines and video have been around for a long time so this is mostly a question about low speed internet and high speed internet-what years those came around and the experiences of PMO surrounding it and also the timeline of the introduction of the smart phone and how that affected your porn use as well. Thank you for your help!

  2. As a kid it was innocuous stuff that wasn’t even porn but turned me on. Age - 8-12

Then it was a video my brother had that I used to watch - age 12 - 15

In the uk we have these channels where you can watch girls and they get txts to do stuff all day and night - age 13-21

Internet - 2006 age 19 - that changed everything. What people don’t realise is that although the porn was so much more accessible, for me it was also things like chat sites and forums that were intoxicating. The chatting and communication was addictive.

smartphone - 2011 - age 23 - like the internet really became an issue long term.

Thank you, Bobby. So, 2006 was when high speed internet porn came around?

  4. Yeah, well that was the first time we had gotten the internet, so I became obsessed, not only with porn and sexual stuff but also just general things like listening to music and YouTube.

  5. Unfortunately there was no good sex education around Internet porn when I was a kid, we just didn't talk about it but everyone secretly did it.

That's tragic and I wonder how in the world kids are expected to navigate this with porn in their pocket when they can't made good decisions about it. At the age kids are first getting phones, I don't know that they are even capable of resisting this temptation. It's a new world. And then it's almost encouraged with no one telling them the downside. Then, mothers catch them and put the shame on and mass confusion ensues. I think it's a horrible epidemic and I sincerely fear for this generation.

  7. I believe it was 99 or 00 that it became possible to download short video clips from websites. It sometimes took awhile. Before that it was mostly images available on the internet. I was 15-16 years old. I found out about many of the websites from public chat rooms. Smart phones in 2007 made things much worse, as someone else mentioned. When I was in college (pre 2007) I never had my own room so I rarely ever viewed porn. With smart phones I’m sure things are very different for college students today.
