Hi, I am an 18-year old guy. I am super excited to start my journey on nofap and change my life for the better.
I got exposed to porn for the first time at 11. Since then, the addiction continued to increase. It got worse when I got my first mobile device at 16. Before that, the exposure was limited. After I got my mobile phone, the addiction increased exponentially. From a hour in few weeks, it increased to few hours a day. I started to lag in my academics for the first time in which I used to be quite good at. I initially ignored these effects of porn due to the falsehood perpratated all over the internet that porn is healthy.
But when I started organising myself for the upcoming exams, I found out that I really got addicted to porn and it could not be shook off as easily as I thought it to be. I am struggling with this shit for the last few months even after realising this problem and I really want some help on this. I tried to be pornfree a lot of times but I could hardly do it for few days. My highest streak is 11 days and my last streak was of 10 days which ended yesterday. I relapsed yesterday four times which made me very miserable. Now, I want to kick this shitty habit out of my life forever. And so I have decided to join this forum. At first, my target will be 30 days PMO free and then I will extend this target to 90 days PMO free and so on. I want to recover from this deadly addiction which is eating up my time and my future. So, please wish me luck as it requires a lot of that!!

Thank you. But I wanted to know why I always have a tendency to go on a binge after a relapse? Please help me with this as it is really hurting my recovery and I don't know how to deal with it.

You see.. i have similar problem, but my streaks are max 5 days long. I successfully completed 30days streak last time, but now it collapsed. But there is a way to keep to your plan. Just say somebody about your challenge. Post on this forum and promise yourelf and promise us you will last for example 30 days and over. Think about it. Wouldn't ot be fantastic to post "hello, i am at 30th day of nofap and i feel great"?

There's a lot going on in your brain and biochemistry that keeps drawing you in. Takes some time to break free from that and clear your head. This link was posted by another NoFapper and found it helpful in understanding what's going on (https://oceanrecoverycentre.com/2016/07/the-ultimate-guide-to-overcoming-internet-porn-addiction/). Would recommend you read it.
Also, I know I sound like a broken record, but the likelihood of overcoming this addiction by an individual without any help from others (support group, accountability partner, counselor/therapist, etc.) is low. I encourage you to reach out, as uncomfortable as that will be. Profile says you're 18. If possible, come clean to a parent and get their help. The sooner you can overcome this incredibly difficult addiction, the sooner you will move on to a healthy, happy and productive life, with healthy relationships and sexuality.

Thank you for the motivational advice. I will start maintaining a log on this forum to track my progress. Moreover, I will put all my efforts to defeat this deadly monster which has crept inside me and many of us here on this forum. Together we all shall defeat this monster.

  7. Good luck! Glad you're excited to be moving in a good direction with this.

Don't blame yourself for losing a streak, that makes it worst because you feel powerless and you think that there is no hope, so then we do things that afterwards we regret and ask why we did it. When you lose a streak try to see it like an experience where you are going to learn something that will help you to last more time the next one. Also don't feel bad. If you lose just get up, see something or do something that can motivate you and keep going this is not an easy journey you have to be prepared to learn from the failure and improve, remember is a process. Good luck you can do it
