I'm almost 16 and I've been watching porn since 13. I 1000000% believe that porn fucks up your brain, and I truly believe it creates ADHD. I have so much trouble being consecrated and this affects my grades etc.

Am I always going to be like this? If I stop PMO would I become my old self again?

And is there anybody who has witnessed the same as me?

I think there are some damages that can't be reversed. But the earlier you stop, the better it will be.

I've heard of some people on reddit who completely eliminated their ADHD and even OCD. Stay strong. I once did nofap without guidance or hardly knowing what it was, and I think I remember by ADHD starting to go away. It'll take time, but stay strong. I ended up getting back on porn because I got prostatitis and my doctor advised me to masturbate. It was a downward slope from there......

The cure for those of us who’ve struggled for many years is psychological-spiritual. In other words, increasing our level of consciousness. How we go about doing this depends on what we resonate with. It is not a quick fix, and I don’t pretend to be 100% healed yet, but there is a light at the end of the tunnel. I wish you good luck!

Hey buddy, forget what the other people posted.
Your brain has something called neuroplasticity. Whatever damage the porn does to your brain can be healed with time. Check my posts in other threads as I always post two links to help quitting porn. You gotta stop this shit before it spreads. Porn is a disease. Check those two posts and follow them religiously.

  13. Maybe that's your own experience but of course that doesn't count for everybody.

I've been heavily addicted to porn, crossdressing, other fetishes, was depressed for many years.

Today I'm almost year free from relapses, no addiction, no porn, no crossdressing, no fetishes, not depressed, run my own business.

And never used one piece of medicine.

I think heavy porn use changes how the brain work and because of the lack of neuroplasticity becoming older, changes will take a very long time to be reverted, maybe the whole life. Some changes will heal for sure, but some will not. I mean it's like an alcoholic, you will stay alcoholic your whole life, if you are not careful you will relapse. It gets easier but it's still there.
That's not saying you can't live a happy life but you will never be as you would if you never watched porn. That's what I think but I hope I'm wrong.

Thanks for your thoughts. I feel it comes down to how deeply and completely what has been causing us to act out has been seen, then dissolved. If it’s been 100% dissolved then it simply isn’t there anymore.

    Good grief you people.

I have ADHD and I'm also a lifelong porn addict. Here's the deal.

ADHD is, at its root, a dopamine deficiency. ADHD people don't have enough neuroreceptors in the brain to accept the dopamine they need, so they constantly seek it. That's why it's hard to concentrate on things that don't interest them- because they don't get a normal amount of dopamine from it. That's why, once they find something that does interest them, it's hard to break their concentration- because they are getting dopamine and they need it. It's why they give up easily when they don't succeed, why they have poor impulse control, why they have trouble with managing time, why they have poor short-term memory. It's a permanent problem that is usually easily fixed with medication. Keep taking the meds, they'll be okay. When the meds wear off, ADHD comes back.

Porn addiction is, at its root as you can read in the material on the site, an addiction to dopamine overload. Searching for porn and edging is a lot of regulated dopamine, finding the "right" porn is even more, O is a massive overdose. When your body gets used to these regular infusions of massive dopamine, it no longer needs normal activity to get that natural neurotransmitter that you need. It makes 100% sense to me that addiction to porn, or any other addiction that gives you large amounts of dopamine, would either exacerbate your preexisting low level ADHD symptoms, or artificially create symptoms that mimic ADHD. Why would your brain need to reward you for studying, or eating, or paying attention when someone is talking to you? It's not what you need, you'll get enough later, you should think about porn instead.

Good news, it's reversible. Every body is different. My experience says it's two weeks of hell, roughly 30 days of tough struggle, and you peak out about day 60 and ride that wave for as long as you don't use. However, it's been different for me this time around, I'm not bouncing back as fast as I have before. I encourage you )and by proxy, myself) to stick with it even if you don't feel the benefits that quickly, because it is worth it. Bad news, up to that point your brain isn't producing much dopamine because it thinks it's going to get a huge dose soon, and every tiny little thing is a trigger because your brain is saying "Yes! That's the thing you need! Do it do it doitdoitdoit!" Hence, two weeks of hell.

Just go through with it. It won't feel like it's worth it. It will feel like you will always be miserable and you will never be happy unless you give in. If you stick with it though, you'll be free and you'll be amazed at how great it is to feel normal.
