I know 99% of gurus\youtubers\ coachers or whatever,of the nofap groups, tell everyone to do cold showers, fasting etc, to overcome the PMO but. I think the disease of bad lust (watching the weird stuff, self-masturbation, etc) comes only or mainly from depression. A truly happy person wont fall into that - so adding excessive toil when you're at the most vulnerable will just make you miserable.
so at first do excercise, hard mental problems, etc but dont eat less or sleep less and even try to watch more nice anime or play vidya or board games. Don't over-eat ,or over-smoke or sleep 10 hours a day. But do mind that you must keep the mind perpetually happy, without gloom, banish depression trough entertainment, comely laughter and light-heartedness.

  2. The opposite of depression is not happiness but vitality. happiness is a byproduct of vitality when it is from a healthy source, and comes with a natural source of dopamine which is the chemical that “makes you feel alive”. Pron, drugs, eating, etc are artificial sources of dopamine that don’t last and regenerate like healthy sources (good relationships, fulfilling work, healthy diet and exercise). So you need to re-up the dose of dopamine artificially and eventually your neurochemical receptors become desensitized so you need to crank up the dosage. Bring in the shock and awe, the dirty shit, escalation to the unnatural and beyond! This is the biological cause for escalation, hence why nofap works so well. Trust the process, be patient, and consistently work on developing your natural dopamine sources - all there is to it!

It is true that one shouldn't burn themselves out, but the reason asceticism helps breaks addictions is because it promotes endurance and self-control, proving to oneself that they are strong and not soft. There is a kind of happiness and enjoyment that accompanies this realization and this sort of asceticism. The reason I do not neglect asceticism with regard to overcoming lust is because lust is an enormously strong passion that often cannot be overcome with more modest means.

from your post i get the idea that I have to not quit non PMO related dopamine inducing non-productive habits like gaming, watchig anime or comedies....it makes sense. We can't deprive the mind of dopamine completely.
