Hello friends, my name is Garrett (MrScratch). I am seventeen years old, and have been addicted to PMO for seven years. As unfortunate as it is, I had my first encounter with pornography when I was ten. I remember the day clearly, and melodrama aside, I curse that day with all the power I have. As much as I hate the day it all began, I can't help but realize that I wouldn't be the person I am today without experiencing what I have experienced.

What I refer to when I talk about who I have become regards a couple things:

Firstly, because of my continuous efforts to seek help for my addiction, I feel that I have grown mentally. The fact that I, we, are all here proves that we have passed the stage of acceptance in the addiction cycle, which, in my personal opinion, can be one of the most challenging steps towards recovery.

Secondly, I have discovered that even in the darkest times of human life, hope endures. In a book I once read, there is a continent . Every couple of weeks, a nightmarish storm, known in the book as a 'highstorm', passes over the continent and destroys everything in its path that is not well-built. Every time a highstorm passes over the continent, the people cower in their homes, fearing for their lives. However, eventually the storm ends; the people arise victorious and greet the new day. My point is, no matter how harsh our highstorms become, there's always a new day. I believe in our case as fighters to our addictions, hope is a passion, a goal to reach. The day after our setbacks, we can evaluate ourselves, our homes, and make repairs so that when the next highstorm comes, we are better prepared. Overall, I believe hope exists as a driving force to encourage us to fight. When we fall, we rise and fight harder.

Yes, I am still addicted to PMO. However, with the experience I have gained, I've become a much better fighter than I was two, three, five years ago. I believe through encouraging, and being encouraged, we can all help each other through our struggles.

    Friends, I salute you.
    May your endeavors succeed.

    ~Garrett
