Hey guys, so ive had the k9 website blocker for about 6 months and ive been actively blocking out a bunch of sites that include porn sites, social media sites, search engine sites, and pretty much anything except for nofap, school grades, art of maniless, my school website, and other school-work related websites. Sites blocked include google, youtube, other search engines. So i need opinions on whether i should unblock google and youtube because i know they could lead to relapse but i feel like im avoiding the real problem rather than facing it. but heres the other thing when i unblock google and youtube, social media sites also become available for some reason, and this throws me back into my porn-related patterns (i have unblocked them before and i was triggered like crazy). advice, opinions please!! Im a 17 year old student by the way so sometimes i feel like i need google and youtube for work but then again i could sometimes (mondays to fridays) go out and use the computer. so weekends are relapse days, possibly.

When i do finish up using my computer for useful tasks, i tend to browse compulsively (not sure if thats the right word).

    advice,opinions please. :)

  2. I always thought of the blockers as an extremely helpful tool, but a tool to be used during the reboot. Sort of like training wheels. It is time for you to take your training wheels off. No way to avoid the world, or artificial sexual stimulation. Just be aware of it. Don't fall back into it.

Thanks for the response, but im only on 2 weeks so far because ive used my phone during this time too. But ive sorta made my iphone almost as functional as a flliphone, so ive turned off safari, disabled app store and kept the apps i actually NEED. Only added things would be music, email, myfitnesspal, dictionary, studying card app, and other school related things.

Should there be a certain amount of days or when my mind is at a different perspective on things to unblock them again?

How about you unblock Google and Youtube but enforce SafeSearch in them? You can do this in your google's account settings. To do that, click the gear icon to right of the Google search page and go to "Search Settings". You'll find an option to lock safe search. And if you want something more forceful you can try doing it with software, like homeguard website blocker. Go to "Monitoring Settings" >> "Web Search" and make sure "enforce safe search" is checked.

In my opinion, you should try to ween yourself off of porn blockers. It is the next to completely rebooting.

I went a bit blocker-crazy when I first started out here, but I always knew how to circumvent them. I don't use them any more, they were a nice training tool when I first started out but all it took when I relapsed was a couple clicks, and they were essentially useless in blocking me from what I wanted to see.

At the end of the day, your mental discipline is what's going to make the difference.
