Okay, maybe "dopamine withdrawal" isn't scientifically perfect, but I think it is understandable, at least as a layman's term.

I went searching for an opposite of dopamine, but instead found research on D2 receptors and that led me to research on INOSITOL. When I searched these forums, I only found one other mention of it.

If it's helpful, I'll try to re-trace my steps and give links to those articles, but most of them were over my head, but I still got enough out of them to think this inositol might be an important part of fighting addiction.

Has anyone here read more about how inositol relates to overcoming addiction?

Found this article on foods that contain lots of inositol. You may find similar articles searching for ADHD nutrition, as low dopamine is associated with that condition as well.

"However, certain foods do contain phytic acid, which releases inositol once it is acted on by bacteria in the intestines. These foods include:
    • Nuts
    • Seeds
    • Beans
    • Whole grains
    • Cantaloupe
    • Citrus fruits"

That reminds me of Criminal Minds where Dr. Spencer Reid thanks Garcia for a gift of nuts, saying they have a lot of magnesium which increases serotonin production.
    Apparently it's all inter-related.
