Will we ever forget porn completely?

Hi. I am currently 3 weeks in on my no PMO journey. Occasionally, my mind recycles through scenes of P that I have viewed in the past. Also, the names of pornstars are easily accessible if I think about them. These memories neither arouse me, nor do they provide me with urges. However, I can't seem to prevent them from recurring, even though I try to distract myself when they do occur in order to shift my focus.

For those individuals who have made it several months without PMO, will we ever forget P? Is it forever ingrained in our long-term memory?

  2. Hey there, and congratulations on your progress so far. After over 100 days, I can safely say that the memories are fading. Also, the amount of flashbacks keeps diminishing over time if you actively try to fight them. I don't assume that we're able to completely forget P, since you will probably never forget the name of the street you've been living on 10 years ago either.

I don't know, but my impression is that you still feel bugged by your memories of porn. But if you don't get aroused, that's really good. I'm envious ;)

I know this. Then sometimes there's the fear of getting names mixed up, giving the name of a porn star to someone instead of the name of the celebrity you're talking about. Or stuff like this.
I think all these memories will vanish more and more by time as long as you don't refresh them. Actually we just have to learn to not think of any scenes and rationalize about things that used to arouse us (like the existence of certain sites and the porn industry, which you can't forget because it's a part of society). And that we know many names in that industry alone isn't a problem. We just need not to be so fixated on these things.

Imagine 10 years from now. There will be already new starlets in the industry which are on the minds of so many men, but you won't even have heard of them and you won't give a damn.

I think relapses makes us remember the porn scenes again. Its like when we are not using a memory for a long time the forgetting cycle take place and gradually the unused memories are dumped into non easily accessible site. So it maybe depend on ourselves whether we think and recollect those memories or names from the past

  9. Memories are memories, not much you can do about them. We don't choose what to remember or forget, our brain manages them depending on their priority. Even after years of NoFap, you'd probably remember what porn is like, but that doesn't mean it's affecting you, nor will it.

Thankfully you only have to deal with it 1 urge at a time.

  11. They are fading for me. But I don't think they'll ever go. But I don't want them to. I want to remember them. So I can forever despise them. And I'll never watch them again.
