I am 40 yrs old and I started fapping since I was 13. I was verbally and physically abused and the only release I had was through fapping. I suffer from depression, anxiety, ocd, ptsd, and I have some anger issues. Porn to me was a way I could deal with my anxiety. I never knew it was a major cause of anxiety and depression till I cam across this site. when I first heard of nofap I was like people are nuts why should I give up the only pleasure I have in life. I have been miserable. I felt like things were just getting worse and worse. I would think how I would be better off if I didnt exist. I started finding no pleasure in anything. Nothing made me happy anymore. I wondered how people are happy while im so depressed and angry. I am on nofap for 6 days now. I do hope to reboot. are there videos and stuff to help? I was thinking about spending 50 bucks for that program but money is tight. at least this part is free. any advice would be greatly appreciated and used. thank you for your time and listening to a short version of my story.

Welcome to NoFap! I joined only six months ago, and it has transformed my life. You write really well btw! Why not go yo the Reboot Logs section and start your own journal to keep track of your Nofap journey? Others will write replies for you, and you can write in their journals too and make new friends. PMO badly affects the way we view and feel about ourselves. The difference is you are no longer alone! Call out if you need help with anything ok. Cheers, and all the best for your journey ahead!

Thank you I wish I could be a writer sometimes lol. I will go check that out. what does pmo stand for? I never kept a journal before. what I have been doing these 6 days is clicking the red button on the stopfap app. it goes into detail on the effects of masturbation which I find very helpful. what do you do to stop yourself? I thought the nofap thing was for 30 days but I am seeing people say they doing it for 90 days. whats the reboot time from? With this addiction when I am done with the 30 days I am worried Ill fall back into the everyday routine of porn. I really would like to start dating and having a normal life. I just dont know how. im so use to people just coming and going in and out of my life that I never let a bond form.

30 days or even 90 days is only a target to allow you to continue striving towards sobriety. By 30 days of sobriety, you will have created a pattern and have realized the severity of your addiction. Please understand that it takes some 60 calendar days to reach 30 days of sobriety. Each slip returns you to Day 0 of sobriety. You create the rules by which you govern yourself but you must be consistent when following them. Others may challenge or question the rules you decide based on their experiences or beliefs but it typically is to help you. There is a journal called In Case You Didn't Know which can give you tips and suggestions along your journey. Follow the advice that @AndySky180 gave concerning your journal and be sure to place a link here so that others can find you.

I am gonna check that out. so really I need to do 60 days? I am gonna stick with the 30 days in my head. that to me is a big number. 60 is gonna make me think of quitting because it seems unrealistic at this point. when I reach 30 then I will attempt 30 more if you think that will help me beat the addiction.

Start with 30 days. Take each day one day at a time. Don't stress yourself out one the number of days you will be doing this. It's really not that vital. What is vital is you starting!

Think of it like going up through gears starting from neutral. 3 Days. Then up to 7 Days. Then up to 10 Days, etc etc. Aim for realustic targets, otherwise you will stall. Well done for what you are achieving already!

Go to the Reboot Logs, find your age group, title and begin a thread, which is your journal. Once created, place a link here so that others can follow.
