If you have an android device, download the "NF Companion" app. It's excellent to track streaks, keep a journal, draw graphs, give encouragement. I'm not sure why there isn't an Apple version. Take a look too at NoFap's introduction posts at the start of this thread: it outlines some great resources.

By the way, N.O. is Nitric Oxide.

When one masturbates in excess, Nitric Oxide levels get fucked and your circulation suffers. When this happens, inflammation becomes that much more of a problem in the body. So this is the real reason that light and moderate exercises benefit those who are suffering from any form of sexual exhaustion.

    Be well and good luck.

If you have a question you think I can help you with, it's probably best to ask here so that others can benefit from the information also. But if you want to private message me, mouse-over "Inbox" on the black bar and click Start A New Conversation and enter my name in the Participant field.

It's not a question of how-long. Forget the questions in general. If the answer is that you want a better life, a life free of porn and self-stimulation for instant gratification that fades once Prolactin is heavily pumped out into your system thereafter, then you do it for as long as you see fit.

A lot of guys who "succeed" at "NoFap" are doing it for life. This doesn't mean that you become celibate – it means that you use your penis with a partner and not on your own (other than to urinate).

I don't know your situation and I'm not a doctor. But I think you should aim to complete at least one month of NoFap and evaluate how you feel at that point. If you are feeling amazing, there is no reason not to keep going even longer.

    Best of luck.

All the evidence tells us that a month is not long enough to make that decision. It takes many months to recover from addiction. There are lots of factors that can indicate how long you might have to avoid all personal sexual stimulation. But you will, ultimately 'reboot to factory settings' your brain's reward circuitry.
