Hi - I am a 24 year old guy and watching a few TED talks on porn and masturbation about a year ago woke me up the fact of how devastating this stuff is to not only our view of women but also how I feel on an everyday basis. From around that time I started to really battle with this stuff and only then did I truly realise how addicted I was to PMO.

Trying to stop, I realised I struggled to even go a day without Fapping, but over the past 8 months I have seen amazing change psychologically, and I have done over 2 months as a record of no PMO. However, in the last few months have been slipping up a lot. I have used NoFap threads for a while but refrained from actually joining the site until now.

I am joining the NoFap community to hopefully re inspire me and give me fresh impetus to commit to NoFap as a sustainable lifestyle - hopefully to walk through this stuff with other guys going through the same struggles and learn from those who are wiser and have walked this stuff out before I have.

Welcome to NoFap where you are amongst friends who are here to encourage you and not judge you.

What are your current strategies for combating the enemy called PMO?

    Thanks - appreciate you asking.

    Current Strategies:

    1. Honest Accountability - knowing someone will ask me how I am doing battling PMO makes me fight the urge sometimes.

    2. I have got to a point now where I realise before it is going to happen. I know the pattern. e.g. watching Netflix - oh she's hot, look up actress, look at hot pictures of actress on google images, continues and escalates...10 mins later I'm watching porn... Learning to say no to even caving in to looking at the hot girl on the TV show i am watching and finding out her name is the biggest part of the battle at the moment to me. If I say no here there is no PMO to follow. The lie I tell myself is I can look her up and it won't lead to porn (and maybe it won't this time but next time, or time after that it always does).

    3. Getting enough sleep. Staying up past midnight watching too much tv/gaming is always a bad sign that fapping is round the corner.

    4. Watching/using my laptop in bed is now a big no no - 50% of the time leads to fapping using porn.

    5. Meditating on God's word, spending time in a place with God is really helpful for me to focus on what really matters in life - on God rather than what I want. That God has better things for me than binging on 8 hours of Netflix and wacking off 3 times in one day into a sock!

    6. Exercise - this is big and I want to start using exercise as a weapon vs PMO when an urge comes along - use it as a method of allowing the release of (not semen) but instead energy out of my body.

    7. Recording days / counting days to be able to look back at progress which should in turn encourage more progress - I actually printed off a tick chart to be able to tick off days I didn't fap - I mark a cross on days where I do. (although I do believe this is a double edged sword - it can help get you to 30 days 60 days but when you look back at your progress after these longer periods it might tempt you to let yourself off and have one wank which can become two and then a binge).
