I'm male, 29 years old and have been an avid fapper since i was about 13 or so.

Jerking off alot less these days but still spend a significant amount of time fapping , especially on a night and am definitely addicted to it.

Iv intended to quit for a long time, years actually. every night before i go to sleep I just think I'l have 1 last wank , Like alot of people i suspect, I'm addicted to quick easy fixes of pleasure a relief to an unrelenting shit storm of depression and anxiety.

For me it's just another addiction, distraction and a huge waste of time and is preventing me (in conjuction with alcohol nicotine and food) from finding real pleasure in life.

I might be cynical in thinking that all of the above are intened to keep us all in a mindless distracted state

OK, nf, it is important to have a reason when quitting, a good reason, a reason that is important to you. This habit is a habit we probably would not quit unless it had some bad repercussions in our lives. Cigarette smokers would not quit if it did not affect them adversely. They lose lung capacity and eventually get cancer. There are all kinds of bad results from using porn all the time. From PIED (porn induced erectile dysfunction) to social interaction problems.
"When I quit, I quit. I did not count the days, I woke up every morning and said to myself I am never going back". I think that is the mindset you must have.

For sure, I can think of plenty of negative effects it has had on my life from physical and mental fatigue, to erectile problems with my ex girlfriend. to me it's just like drugs and food. I feel asif I'm doped up when iv been jerking off and it's asif everthing else takes too much effort to achieve satisfaction when compared with half an hour and a belladonna dvd. similarly to drug habits I think the masturbation addiction stems from some sort of deficit in other areas of my life and I do think quitting will allow me to find something real. I've done a good 5 days and not feeling overly tempted, I've focused on the inevitable positive changes I'l make as a result of not wanking. But yeah you're right theres no reason why it cant be a conscious decision
