Been a lurker for a while now, every couple of months or so.

Tried to have some abstinence periods on my own, and unsurprisingly the longest I ever managed was about 5 days. That's in probably a decade of PMO, which I thought about and decided was terrible!

I'm in the midst of a bit of a life-overhaul at the moment and have decided that this is another element.

Glad to be here, I'm sure I will find support when I need it, and give it when others do too.

  2. Welcome @Tau_Ceti. I suggest that the best approach is to stop masturbating, edging, using porn or any arousing material. If you wish to have sex, that's up to you. For any terms you are not aware of, check the list in The Glossary (above). Furthermore, look at these videos which articulate the main issues involved (by scientist Gary Wilson). His website is: https://www.yourbrainonporn.com

Welcome to NoFap where you are amongst friends who are here to encourage you and sometimes challenge you but not judge you.

The enemy is here to steal, kill and destroy. What are your current strategies for combating the enemy called PMO?

    Thanks guys

I'm making this change while taking up exercise and undertaking a broader attitude shift - considering every action against my goals. Simple, but it's been very effective at helping me cut back on junk food.

The main thing for me is resetting that rewards system, I've come to feel that getting an instant dopamine hit to distract me from something else I should be doing has negative impacts not only for thing I should be doing but also screws up my enjoyment of everything else.
