For 5 years I smoked and then I quit for 1 year. I tried some hits after that but I haven't returned to the habit. Now I have been 25 days PM free and I have been noticing that my cravings for cigarretes got stronger. Does anybody know if PMO and smoking can be related?
For me PMO, smoking and drinking are all woven together. When I let loose on one of seems all the others fall apart. I have noticed when I start stringing together time with the PMO my willpower seems to get stronger with the other 2. The order to stop for me seems to be best with PMO and then the rest.
When you smoke, nicotine blocks Norepinephrine/Epinephrin reabsorption channels in nerve terminals, which causes them to accumulate just above normal number, which in turn makes us to feel good. (Cocaine and Nicotine affects same channel, but ofc in different powers). So, when your brain seeks for dopamine and you don't give it, then it starts trying to get fed from other sources, like nicotine. Our brain is a bitch.
That's only just you. You believe that they are bonded, so when one falls, others go too. But it happens because you think it happens.
I agree. Didn't intend to state it's a fact for all. I'm just familiar with myself and answered his question from my experience.
I have a question about this. I understand what you’re saying about our brain seeking dopamine but then what are these addiction pathways? Are they pathways with more dopamine receptors that aim for P and P subs? So do cigarettes affect them? Or are neither of us neuroscientist and our understanding of hormones and receptors a joke lol
Yeap, those addicted neural pathways develop throughout the long-term porn use. For example every new Porn (that you like) forces that pathways to spread impulse. (That impulse gives us dopamine) Time to time it gets harder to develop strong impulses, that's where fetishes come from, extraordinary material=more satisfaction. So, about cigarettes. No they don't affect these pathways, when you stop to watch porn, brain lacks that dopamine, it gives you urges to watch porn and when you don't, as I said it seeks for other sources, like cigarette.
So, it’s okay to do other dopamine inducing activities, such as binge watching shows or smoking, as long as we don’t use P, which means those pathways will eventually die which is the most important thing, right?
Those pathways will never die, but become less and less. It's like playing guitar or piano, if you give up, no matter how good you used to play, time will consume your experience, so, the pathways that were responsible for playing will become weak without constant stimulation. I think that's not quite good example but, principles are the same.
