Nearly made a year!

    Hello all!
    I have not posted for a while but I wanted to post something about abstaining from masturbation. I last "slapped the salami" on 8 Jan this year. As of today, 5 Dec I have not fallen off the wagon. That is 331 days!! I am working towards 8 Jan next year when I clock up a year. Was it easy to do? Well, I found I was masturbating pretty much every day and to be honest it became a bit of a ritual - the pleasure was momentary and I felt like I was going through the motions a bit. I set myself goals - 30 days, 60 days, 90 days....before you know it you are up to 6 months!
    I have never been a great gym person but thought I would give it a go. I lost weight, built up muscles and felt healthier. Psychologically I feel better to. I seem to have a better focus on work and other things. I do not even think about masturbating now. I still get erections of course but it is almost like re-programming your mind.
    I was not sure about NoFap to begin with....but it has helped me see things a lot more clearly. Will you get tempted to fap? Sure, but it is about willpower as well (for me, anyway). My advice is set yourself small goals - 5 days, 10 days, a month and see it build up - and fill your time with other things. I will be celebrating on 8 Jan though!!!

    I wanted to ask you if suffered from PIED? Have you recovered?

    Did you try a few times before making it to 331 days?
    It’s good to hear that you can control yourself now.
    Your at a place that I would love to be at. I’ve tried countless times to achieve 90 dats. My record is 30. However, I fully expect to start getting urgies around day 25. Have you any tips how I can get through this?

    I’ve started taken cold showers in the last week.
    I done some research on cold showers and their actually good for you in helping even with heart problems.
    You’ve done well getting to 41 days.

    Hi there!
    I have not suffered from PIED throughout the whole 330 days. I still get very hard erections and get stimulated by the usual things that give guys hard-ons! As I do not have a partner (at the moment) when I do get an erection I just ensure that my foreskin can be pulled back easily and it is not tight.

    Nope. This was the first time I have tried no masturbation. It was from cold. There is a lot of will power as let's face it, masturbation is pleasurable - but in moderation. After a while if you are doing it everyday it is a like a drug - it wears off quickly and you do not get the same sensation/feeling. That is what I found, anyway.
    Try not to be too hard on yourself. If you feel the urge, try and think of something else - take a shower or go to the gym. You can release a lot of pent up energy at the gym. I tended to fap before I went to bed so I started reading or doing breathing exercises instead and this takes your mind off it. Practicing mindfulness is a good one. There are loads of websites out there that can help programme your mind to wanting other things and appreciating other things around you. Try it. It can't hurt and good luck! Look at the times when you feel the most need to fap in the day and start doing other things at this time. Set yourself smaller goals - 5 or 10 days before going for a full month. You will feel a greater sense of achievement if you meet these smaller milestones.

    Congrats to that upcoming symbolic streak mate!
    I remember when I slapped the salami last time (must have been on 24 February) and how dull, depressed, blue and miserable I felt on day-1. Not even the awesome and beautiful winter-weather could sheer me up at all.
    It was the day after (on day-2) I decided to get my act of self-control together and trying not to masturbate for at least two weeks. Around day 8-9, I felt severe withdrawal symptoms and two days later, I started to feel a sudden surge of energy and everything inside of (and around) me slowing down significantly. Things felt more enjoyable too and I began to wonder if this could have something to do with not masturbating. As I researched it further I decided to shoot for at least a full month and see how it went.
    The benefits continued to pour in the following weeks and after 90 days, I decided to never go back to fapping and pornography again. I developed my interests and hobbies a whole lot since then, as well as increasing performance and focus at work. It has truly done wonders to me for the past 9 1/2 months.

    Good job! I'll be celebrating on Jan 5. For sure you have to start slowly and build up from it. one year is a great mark and every one should be proud of every little achievements.

    The mental game is strong and you've won! Do you have any other achievements for next year? Something like nofap you want to challenge yourself to?

    Yep. I used to masterbate every night. Helped me sleep. However, it was like a drug like you said.
    I’m more hopeful this time that I can get a lot closer to by “first” goal which is 30 days.
    Thank you for the positive advice. It’s great to hear from people who’s life’s havre improved dramatically since stopping pmo.

    I have big goals and plans for next year of which I am hoping to achieve at least one:

    -Resigning from my current job (where I am not able to climb up the corporate ladder anyway), move to another town and start something on my own.
    -Running a few Marathons where and improve my PR by 10-12 minutes.
    -Getting to know better and more positive friends/people to surround myself with.
    -Finding myself a good girlfriend.

    One year ago, I was very troubled by anxiety, depression, light shakiness in limbs, negative thinking, and much more so I have really come far in such a short time.

    Actually, I have not thought about it to be honest! I have just been made redundant from my job after 7 years so a new job is priority. However I would really like to meet a partner. That would be on my list as well. A different sort of challenge....but still a challenge all the same....

    Funnily enough, not one single wet dream in nearly a year! Sex wise - zero on that score. My aim is to meet someone in the new year.
    Benefits - more increased confidence, energy and positive outlook. Not just relying on getting short term pleasures anymore from PMO.
