Any runners here? Would like some tips for adding more distance to my runs including breathing techniques, sports wear or nutrition. Thanks
I used to run like crazy. Really got into it. If I was you I'd go to your, or another, national running association website. I'm a cyclist these days and the British Association of Cycling is filled with amazing technical information. Good luck, train hard, keep hydrated and live strong brother!
Thanks bro, currently recovering from Covid and trying to shed couple of holiday weight. Started running for couple of weeks. Do you have any breathing advise?
I’m a runner getting back into it. I’m scheduled for CIM this December in Sacramento. My tip, build up your mileage monthly to strengthen your body for race day.
Its going to depend on how your body is. How your body responds to different training. For being new, I would ease into it and not increase weekly mileage by no more than 10 percent. My body responds very positively to high weekly mileage, ie. 80-100+ miles weekly. Some guys don’t though and get easily sick and/or injured.
Naturally breathe to the rhythm of your strides. That's what I was always told. Your breathing should govern your rhythm and your pace. If you're out of breath you're doing too much, unless of course you are sprinting to a set point, before stopping, or slowing and regaining your breath. Let your body and mind be the guide. you know yourself. If you are trying to figure breathing in relation to how quickly you run each mile, then do a basic 5 mile run, comfortably, well-paced by breath and afterwards work out the miles per hour you ran. That'll give you a great idea as to what you need to do to improve or reduce your speed and therefore your overall fitness levels and necessary training regimen and diet to increase overall performance. Mate, I'm no specialist here, so I'm clutching at straws. I am a serious cyclist these days (looking after the joints, know what I mean), and breath is still vital to my sucess. Just passed a runner today actually. So admired his power and rhythm and strength as I came up from behind him, but when I levelled with him I took a good look at him, as I was properly interested in his poise as he run, but as it turned out he was breathing really heavily. I was surprised at first, but then thought, well maybe he's doing a HIIT sprint? Maybe not, but the point was, his breathing was really heavy and exerted and I thought, nah, you can't do that for too much longer, but heh, that was a passing glimps in a strangers life, so what do I know what he was up to? Listen to your body, find your natural rhythm and pace and let that be governed by your breath above all else.
