The Truth About Porn-Induced Premature Ejaculation

I've been suffering from my obsession with sex and pornography for many years and I've only been noticing its harmful effects on my life over the last four years. My biggest fear when it came to how porn affected my sex life is how I was ejaculating quickly. Ridiculously quickly. No, for real, there was one time where I ejaculated when my dick just rubbed against the skin of my partner.

I realize that this suffering from Porn-Induced Premature Ejaculation (PIPE) is a scary thing. I know, it's been terrifying me for years. The thought of being too quick to the draw thereby disappointing your partner, getting judged by a new partner, and worse still, feeling inadequate as a man. I've been through it all and when you experience feelings like this, you tend to act out and go off the rails even more.

I did a lot of research when I was scared of experiencing PIPE. Most commonly on the interwebs, you're going to see lots of people recommending Kegel exercises (Don't fall into the trap of doing Kegels when you feel the pressure of ejaculation during sex. I'll explain why soon). Another common thing you'll read from people online is that when they finished their 90-day semen retention journey or sometimes journey's up to a year, their PIPE disappeared on its own.

Both of the above help, but the people that share those things usually miss the real reason that they no longer experience PIPE. This is the truth about PIPE as I've experienced it.

I'm 21 years old. I shouldn't be having trouble in the bedroom, but I've been watching porn for the most part of a decade. The reason PIPE develops in us people who masturbate while watching porn is because of conditioning. You condition yourself to ejaculate quickly in two main ways--

    1. Breathing. Most of us masturbaters have developed awful breathing habits during masturbation. We have shallow heavy breaths and often times we hold our breath. This puts pressure on our internal systems. One way to relieve that pressure is through a release --ejaculation. It's simple: breath badly, you'll ejaculate quickly. Breath deeply and slowly, you'll last longer. For more on how breathing affects you in every area of your life, read Breath by James Nestor. It made a huge difference in my sex life and it will make a huge difference in yours.

    2. Tension. Over the course of many masturbation sessions, often we tense up, which is usually (but not always) a result of poor breathing. You breathe poorly, so your stomach muscles tighten, your ass tightens, your pelvic floor tightens, and even your penis tightens. One way that you've conditioned yourself to get rid of that tightness is through ejaculation. You ejaculate, so you let go. Notice this tension, and let it go, when you do you'll find that you last longer. This is why doing Kegels when you feel the pressure to ejaculate throws you over the edge. What you're meant to do is relax your pelvic floor --a reverse Kegel. More so, you're meant to stay relaxed everywhere else too.

Most of us take these two bad habits into the bedroom with our sexual partners. We take quick sharp shallow breaths and we tense up real quick often out of fear of ejaculating quickly. Then, we ejaculate quickly anyway.

Now, I mentioned that the people that do semen retention for a long time and people who do reverse Kegels often report improvements. Here's why.

The people that do semen retention for a long time passively give their bodies enough time to unlearn the habit of staying tense. In that way, when they come back to sex after a long time, they're not tense anymore, so they last longer. The people that do Kegels right actively teach their bodies to release tension when they spot it. Yet neither of those people ever learn to use their breath to their advantage.

About me. I still haven't let go of the habit of watching porn, but where I once couldn't last a single second in bed, I now last as much as I want to. It happened for me right after I read James Nestor's book (mentioned above). I started actively breathing deeply for the majority of the day and paying attention to my breath during sex, keeping it deep and slow. 5 seconds in and 5 seconds out. Let the breath flow and don't hold it in.

The secrets of the breath go way beyond that. Men concerned with PIPE, look into breath with regards to tantra and tantric sex. The breathing exercises that these people believe in truly work. I've tried it myself and the results are tremendous.

Forget about Kegels. Forget that distant future of glory that only comes from a long journey of semen retention. The answer is in the breath. Breath well and learn some breathing exercises and you're going to thrive.

It's not easy, but this is the truth.

  2. Indeed it is.
May I ask you for how long you had PIPE? And after how much time of deep breathing you started to see results?

    Wish you success and peace.
