I can understand you. At 16 I installed Norton Family on my Windows PC using a one time password I didn't remember. At that time, I really struggled with adult content. I also considered to ask my mum for setting parental controls on my devices. Still, I had concerns that she can check my browsing history, which had made her aware of my sexuality. (My mom is conservative). If you want to protect your child from watching adult content, you should also keep the privacy of the child/teen in mind. Using a porn blocker is fine without recording the browsing history. For teens having family link installed, the parent cannot check the browsing history on the parent's device. Therefore, family link for teens should be ok.
I guess she was able to see the blocked porn sites. So embarrassing man. Family link lets the parent know how much the "kid" uses his apps and the kid's location. Not very intrusive in my opinion. There are apps out there that actually let the supervisor see the screen of the supervised devices. Privacy destroyed. Family link is a good compromise
Yeah, I agree with you regarding family link. The porn blocker, which can be activated using Family link, works quite well in my opinion. Still, the parent needs the teen's device to check the browsing history. By the way, I never let my mom control my devices. I just considered this case. Because of privacy issues I never asked her to install parental controls.
Ok, I got you now. Smart decision! That would be a great feature to add to Family Link but I don't like to keep high expectations from the Family Link Team. The only prominent change they did this year is changing the app's GUI. I really hope they add more features so we don't have to use apps like test DPC and other MDMs.
I think this feature would be great. Still, I would appreciate that enabling of such a feature needs the teen's consent .
Yeah, just like accountability. Agree that a consent should be needed or at least the child should receive a notification that it was enabled. All what we could do right now is to wait
Is there a way of doing this on your own with only one phone ? (be both parent and child but lock parent with password in a lockbox)
