So I am just getting started on my NoFap/Rebooting journey. I've read a bunch of articles in the past day. I found some guided meditations that I will try (hypnosis helped me quit smoking, so I hope it can help with this), and different strategies such as cold showers, keeping a workout regimen, and keeping a journal. What other strategies to people have that have worked for them? Do you have any additional reading/podcasts that you recommend? Thanks for your help.
Your brain on porn and SPAM REMOVED (spam code #001) - REPORT TO MODERATION book that is turned to relate about pmo are good reads about this addiction.
One of the guided meditations I found was from the Your Brain on Porn website. I have yet to dive into the site more. I've been just trying to gather resources to start and then start diving into them.
I would say don't make the mistake of keeping your old beliefs about P and trying to make these go away just by getting a certain day on your counter. That caused a mountain of problems for me.
Great book, I do think its lacking in a couple areas though IMO. Funnily enough, listening to Allen Carr's book on alcohol with the mindset of relating it to P addiction helped me even more than that.
even i have just hopped on to this wagon in hopes of getting better. wishing you a great journey ahead
My best advice starting out, pay careful attention to when you're being triggered. Anything, whether it's an image, a commercial, a game, a stray thought, etc. is a potential trigger. As soon as you detect a trigger, immediately pull yourself away so it will not be permitted to grow. Get to the point you automatically refuse to even glance at anything to lust after it. Systematically clean up your mind. And find a church community or something to keep yourself socially active and focused on higher things throughout the week.
