I am on day 7 and I decided to block Youtube on my computer and Phone. I don't know how long I will block it but it will certainly be more than a week. As you shall know it, Youtube contains lot and lot of triggering video. I've seen videos that were almost porn and I don't exaggerate (we could easily masturbate on it). Also, when I blocked Youtube, I realized how much time I spend on it. I used to watch videos on it like just after waking up, during breakfast, when I study and before sleeping. This is a lot of time and a lot people use it as often as me or more. I know there are good and interesting content but the majority of videos are often useless. I think this time could be spend on discovering new websites, reading books or going to the gym (sometimes I planned to go to the gym, but I started watching videos on Youtube and as I was unable to stop, I just did not go to the gym). I would like to know your opinion about blocking Youtube. Is it going to far or a good idea?
Yes I fully agree, I have massively reduced my YouTube consumption. There are absolutely tons of P subs there and the way that we consume media on YouTube is very similar to the way that we often consumed porn. A lot of porn sites also model their design on YouTube so I think even looking at YouTube can be a trigger in itself. The only time I use it now is if I'm looking for a very specific video and I try to close it as soon as I have finished.
There is absolutely nothing on YouTube to watch... Nothing..........................................................
It's hard for me to stop going on Youtube through my phone since that's where I listen to all of my music . And when I am on there watching videos, I'm careful on what I'm searching for . * But I think what your doing is a "Great" thing . Keep At It ! *
Download Sound Cloud, Pandora, Spinrilla, Audiomack, and Spotify instead for your Music Delete YouTube, and Block Youtube Website If you have Iphone learn about Restrictions
I definitely have Soundcloud and I don't use pandora anymore. I'll try out the other apps you suggested . Thanks .
I blocked YT years ago and saving tons of times now. If I have to use it for education, I would go visit the public library or the campus library.
This is a great topic to discuss. While YouTube has never been an extremely strong trigger for me in the past, I can see how so many videos can be triggers. Then again, YouTube can be an addiction on its own. I have spent way too much time over the last 5 years watching non-P related videos. I would watch them after work, school and in between homework assignments. I wasted so much time when I could have been doing something else. I am trying to cut down on my time on YouTube during this process.
The only reason I've used YouTube is for music and sharing it with friends. Either way you can delete it for the duration of your reboot. It's not like YouTube is going anywhere anytime soon.
What I mean is that I watch YouTube purely for entertainment value, as an alternative to television. But with so many choices, time moves quickly. Then again, I use YouTube all the time for music when I'm traveling by train.
