Let's stop pretending, even amongst professed Christians, casual sex is an accepted thing.

For Fapstronauts who are disciples of Christ

    Vaya con Dios, mi amigo.

  2. Threads like this always remind me of why I should avoid Christians at all cost. They have the intellectual capacity of a rodent. I'll always be above your heads and beyond your understanding as long as you bow to your Sky Daddy that common sense says doesn't exist.

Talking to you guys gives me a lot of confidence about myself and my abilities.
    Thank you, truly!

Your reality is porn and masturbation I don't envy you.

  4. My reality is EARTH and no not a 6,000 year old Earth that you probably believe in.

What with your ability to quit porn. How free you are in this addiction in your happy reality?

  6. I'd rather fight my addiction in reality than substitute reality for a fantasy and then beat porn. At least once I beat my addiction I'll still be in reality. You will still be locked in a fantasy world while I'm enjoying reality free of porn.

    ¡Adíos!

So, you believe in beating this addiction? Do you know that you have only 2% chance? Such are statistics.
    You're really a believer!
    Adios, nice talking to you.

  8. Desperate, pathetic.

If you're an atheist you certainly do have faith. You have faith that there is absolutely NO God whatsoever. You cannot prove this. But you believe it. This is faith.
Now, if you're an agnostic, that's a different thing. This belief says "i don't know". It's a completely respectable and humble option.
But don't fool yourself, atheism IS truly one of the more arrogant, faith-based beliefs out there.

Thank you for illustrating your ignorance of the Bible.

The Christian faith fully approves of sex. God created it, afterall. There is an entire book of the Bible devoted to sex.

Here you are, talking about "that book of nonsense", not realizing that it's that book that laid the foundation for the US Constitution and the American notion of individual liberty. Jesus said, "love your neighbor as yourself." Was that nonsense?

This is merely trolling. If @Readytomoveon isn't aware of any intelligent Christians we can say with certainty that he's an ignoramus. You can disagree with Christianity, but to say there are NO intelligent Christians? Laughable trolling. Don't feed into it.

Ah, @Readytomoveon, always eager to make the world a more positive place with comments like these. He's truly acting out of love, I see.

Every 12-step fellowship involves the recognition of a Higher Power. If you refuse to believe in one, @Readytomoveon, then that's your prerogative, but be prepared to see "0 Days" in your counter a lot more often.

    +1 for my ignore list!

Where is the standard which discriminates between correct and incorrect interpretation? There is none for the Protestant. They have no authority outside scripture but their own individual mind. Hence the chaos.

Basically. There are only two types of a Christians; ones who follow a magisterium and ones who believe they're the magisterium.

Science has hamstrung the way we think. We turn ourselves and our language into a machine, and think in terms of cause and effect. But the reality is we can never get away from analogy. We look at the world as if it were a machine. We always create our own image of the world.

So we have science - our created image of the world. And we have philosophy - the recognition of our creation. And we have religion - some cosmology of why this should be so. This is all a natural unfolding of mind, just as a plant would grow toward the sun.

Yes, we become our own Pope. Now I don't mind being my own philosopher, where I can say with Socrates 'I know I don't know'. But in religion, I will join a two thousand year old providential tradition thank you very much, rather than rely on my own meagre resources.

I wonder if the prior critical step is required in order to truly believe.

    We're the only true Christians...
    No...We're the only true Christians...
But wait...I'm the only true Christian...
You are deluded...It is I that is the only true Christian
But my church is the only true church...
But you are wrong...because my church is the only true church...
    My Jesus! Mine! Not yours!

Wisdom is not Knowledge. Interestingly, there is a story about knowledge and a tree in the very beginning of the Bible. Enlightened ignorance was the position of the school of sceptics which had for its adherents some of the most brilliant minds in history from Socrates to Kant.

You seem to have a rationalist cast of mind with your emphasis on distinguishing truth from falsehood. It is an ideological frame of mind that has divorced itself from the other transcendentals of Beauty, Goodness and Unity. These served to richly counter-balance the propensity of the thinker and the theologian to wander off into the woods of fanaticism.
