I was reading an article and people said that they were staying away from pre workout and supplements because they cause a spike in dopamine. Has anyone researched this because pre workout is the shit.

I mean as long as you don't take workout more than once or twice a week and as long as you use it to actually workout (that'd be insane to take that shit to PMO) I guess you're fine.

It's a stimulant just like coffee or redbull so it stimulates the brain and your senses. I personally stopped taking any form of stimulant except preworkout couple times a month when I really need a boost for leg day.

Almost anything can cause a spike in dopamine. Dopamine is not bad. It's just the wiring of your neural pathways with porn that's bad, because it's a highway between a very unhealthy activity and your brain.

Most preworkout supplements contain high amounts of caffeine (and other xanthines), sometimes they add, synephrine, octopomine, hordenine and higenamine. These substances work on the adrenergic system. If the preworkout contains substances like DMAA, DMBA and other dimethylamylamine like stubstances are also adrenergic, but some research show they are also potent dopaminergics. I took a DMAA preworkout and felt like I was high on amphetamine. I also felt a comedown just like with amphetamine and flatline came back harder than before I used it. I would watch out with preworkouts containing DMAA and it's analog substances. They also add phenethylamine, tyrosine and acetyl-l-tyrosine. I have no idea if these amines affect reboot.

Interesting. I had heard about that. Those substances are banned in Europe I believe. For example the C4 preworkout marketed in Europe doesn't contain the same substances than the US product.

You can still buy those DMAA and DMBA preworkouts underground here in The Netherlands. Back in the day there were quite a lot of people addicted to the stuff. It raises dopamine levels to high levels. Too high dopamine spikes for a too long time activates the dopamine d1 receptors on the medium spiny neurons, and then follows an internal cascade involving protein kinase proteins, CREB and increased DeltaFosB, which rewires the brain to an addictive state. Now your brain is rewired to crave the preworkout. I'm pretty sure it also messes with your dopamine d2 receptors and adrenergic receptors and cause pretty nasty withdrawal symptoms. There are reports of addicted gymrats getting withdrawal symptoms from Jack3d or other preworkout supplements.

    Guys,

I stopped using pre workout supps cos they mess up with your blood pressure. Longtime usage is linked to a lot of scary stuff. I rely on plain old high GI carb intake before my workouts and they work like a charm!

I mean they could but the main reason I don’t use them is just because I don’t wanna be dependent on using a supplement to have to do a workout. I’ve never used pre in my whole life. Never plan to start either.

Exercise stimulates the release of dopamine, norepinephrine, and serotonin. These chemicals play an essential role in regulating mood. For example, serotonin improves sleep quality and increases not only philosophy but also appetite. A small amount is helpful because it prepares the body for physical activity (breathing speeds up, the heart rate rises, and the blood runs faster). But large doses of this stress hormone hurt our health. For me, there is nothing better than sports. Running, fitness, cycling, swimming, extreme entertainment, and recreation. All of these things are very refreshing and don't stop me. But outdoor activities require recovery, and I've come across various creams and solutions https://rats.army/ that soothe pain or congestion. Perhaps these will come in handy for you as well.

I would suggest avoiding any form of stimulants if you can. I used to use pre-workout before workouts and it definitely stagnated my recovery to the point that when I finally decided to cut it out, I went into withdrawal. Once I did give it up, I noticed a difference in recovery once the withdrawal process was done.

Go for natural foods that will stimulate your energy, avoid anything else for as long as you can. Once recovered you can potentially reintroduce into your diet.
