Stay strong mate, well done for making a start. Good things will be on the horizon, feel free to reach out to me if you need any advice.
Hey brother how to control urges now just a minutes ago I got an urges for 15 to 20 minutes and I started to watch porn but suddenly I quit and open nofap forum now I am okk...but what if urges again attack.....pls give me advice
Remember that porn addiction is a real addiction just like drugs. Stay strong brother. And tell yourself that you can do it! Destroy this devil!
Just added this to the thread in my signature too but this is a great practical way to deal with urges: When a trigger hits (or I can't let go of a thought), I try to remember to B.R.A.C.E. (from the FreedomFight.org, great website for recovery if you haven't already come across it). B - Breathe deeply (4 seconds in, 4 seconds out) for a minute or so R - Remember the truth (for me it's reading scripture, but just remember who you want to be and the truth about what porn really does to you) AC - Accountability Call (call or text accountability and let them know you're struggling. Bringing light to the struggle can diffuse the power it has over you) E - Escape (leave wherever you are that made you tempted immediately) One of the keys they talk about is to practice this even when you're not tempted, 2-3 times per day minimum. You train your brain to start to react like that when temptation hits, and once it really does, your first reaction will be to BRACE instead of submit to the tempting material.
You really have to get used to the fact that your life will be incredibly difficult for the first week or two. It will be a constant mental battle every single day, but it pays off very quickly. Don't feel bad for yourself and don't make excuses.
Firstly well done for managing to get through that urge. If you experience another urge firstly get the idea of relapsing out your head by focussing on something else, for me exercise, cold air, fresh air and socialising help a lot. For you clicking on the nofap website is something that helped you. Urges are normal bro, they can't really be controlled but it is more about not letting ourselves be influenced by them and continuing with the nodal journey. I also struggle with this but I hope this helps.
Hi Moji, how is your journey going? I know only a day has elapsed since your previous post, but letting go of an addiction is a daily battle; we want to support you in whatever way we can.
I found this information in the Forum Usage Guide. I have not tried this process myself, so I can't speak to whether it works. Perhaps someone else can chime in on the matter.
