New here, not new to the struggle

Discussion in 'New to NoFap' started by Deleted Account, Sep 5, 2017.

  1. Hey, guys. I'm Austin, 31 and I'm struggling to get over my addiction to porn and anonymous gay sex. I've been celibate for almost three months, and I haven't fapped or watched porn in two weeks. I converted to Catholicism last year and am trying to live a more chaste life as well as remove myself from a dark hedonistic past that led me to where I am, or at least how I was. I have heard that the period of extinction for addictions like this is usually around two years. My situation is compounded by the fact that I also want to deprogram my sexuality and not let my same-sex attraction prevent me from one day forming a loving relationship with a woman. I recognize that I was on that course until I started watching porn, which later led to gay porn, which led to extreme gay scat porn and gay sex. I am a member of Courage, a Catholic apostolate for men who experience same-sex attraction. My priest knows my situation and has been very supportive in my recovery. My biggest weakness in all this is just how easy it is to have gay sex at the drop of a hat thanks to apps like Grindr and scruff. Prayer is an invaluable resource, especially the rosary, in this struggle. If you're Catholic or experience unwanted same-sex attraction, feel free to message me.

Welcome to NoFap where you are amongst friends who are here to encourage you and sometimes challenge you but not judge you.

The enemy is here to steal, kill and destroy. What are your current strategies for combating the enemy called PMO?

  4. Besides taking up time with classes, I combat mainly with prayer (I have a repertoire of prayers focused on these particular demons and for the grace of chastity) and frequent reception of the sacraments. Last relapse was two weeks ago.

  5. Also, if I relapse, my rule is I have less than 24 hours to go to confession with a priest who knows my struggle.
