Just deleted 2TB of porn - shaking, confused, immediate regret.

Discussion in 'Porn Addiction' started by Ash22, Sep 22, 2017.

  1. Deleting that stash is the first big step towards your porn free life! No one, who rebooted his brain, said it's like an easy walk to the park!

If you delete that stash, it is like you unload your weight you have to lift, load and go to your reboot point!

Just curious, as I've seen threads like this come up a lot: why would someone have a porn stash? I thought people generally wanted novelty?

I'm with you on this one my friend... I HATE this porn addiction. It's affecting me and the people around me so much. We have to stay strong this time. We have to keep on fighting, for we will always be vulnerable. I am proud of what you've done. The first step to victory.
    Keep on fighting friend.

  4. certainly verifies the purge is as real as the addiction...
you've gotten the upper hand now, stand your ground it does get easier

Now you just have to worry about the millions of TBs of streaming porn available.

Yeah that's a good question. Not sure tbh, if I had to guess I think there's a disturbing 'possessive' quality about it all: the addiction becomes a part of you and you never want to risk losing it so you greedily hoard it all. Very unhealthy.

i had porn stash cause it was easier to open the media file than to use internet and file that particular video.

  9. Several times I wiped out my stash, then started rebuilding it later. Recently though I was able to sort of step outside myself and see the pattern - the pointless, self-destructive, time-wasting pattern of hoarding all those stupid pixels. What helped me is realizing that they just have no positive value for me anymore, so I don't regret them being gone, in fact it's a relief.

  10. The first time I threw out my collection of porn DVDs was monumental. The second time was epic!

I think it's the fear of losing a counterfeit joy you've had for so long in your life. But if you do lose it, you have a chance of finding the real thing.

Yeah, that does make sense. Like I know in my mind it's not joy.. just temporary pleasure that comes at a very destructive cost in the long-run. Yet still on some level I have an attachment to it I haven't been able to break. Not always as easy as just knowing something to make emotions fall in line. How to take this next step of completely getting over the counterfeit benefits is what I need to work on.

  14. I know how you feel. When I got rid of my collection this last time, it felt like a big void was left there. But after some time I realized it wasn't a void, it was instead a hopeful space where new opportunities could flow.

This is partially true. However, the deeper you are in the addiction, the harder it becomes for you to find the perfect scene to finish off to. And when you do find a suitable candidate - likely after a few hours of searching - you want to make sure to save it for future "reference".

That's how the porn stash comes to be: its purpose is to gather the "crème de la crème" of porn clips and pictures for quick PMO sessions.

Wow, this spoke to me. I can remember spending literally hours to find the "right" video or picture, and when I finally did, I found that this picture or video didn't speak to me as much as I thought, so I would go back to an old stand by video or picture to help me get hard and then go back to the new picture or video. Never worked out that way. Problem was I wouldn't last long at all during the stand by scene or video, and when I finished I was feeling bad about a) the fact that I couldn't finish to a "new girl" and b) angry at the fact that I just wasted two hours finding a picture or video to last less than 5 minutes. Unreal now to write this out and see how deep I was in this addiction...

Didnt had 2TB, but I think I had something along the lines of 10GB.

What helps is that during my streak I think of the things Ive gotten rid of, and knowing how long it took to get them to just toss it away says something.

It says that a great deal of you wants to quit porn more than to go back to it.

You threw literally to the trash 2TB, I have no idea how long that took.

You took a huge step and should be proud.

    Hi brothers,
I deleted everything i had on my pc, backup drive, links in browsers, blogs in tumblr, the trash can,... everything everywhere until the last bit the second day of my reboot....
I never felt so relieved in my whole life, just do it if you haven't already, it is mentally a big boost to do a proper reboot and not fantasizing about this or that movie when you have urges. Don't regret it, be proud of yourself if you do it ! :)
