I relapsed 9 days ago, and I'm glad I did . Here's why.

At the beginning of this year (2014), I discovered No PMO. All of a sudden, everything made sense. The fact that I couldn't get excited by real sex or real women, the half-ass erections I would have with said women, the social anxiety that has seemingly gotten worse since I've grown older, the fact that pretty much nothing excited me anymore; everything felt (and still feels)... boring... vanilla...

Since the beginning of this year, I've gone 90 days without PMO... and then relapsed. After that relapse, I went another 30 days... and then relapsed again.

That last relapse, was 9 days ago, and here's why I'm glad it happened:

I was in the middle of the binge, when I realized something: Porn just doesn't do it for me anymore! Clearly, I'm in what I believe is a flatline, as I don't really care about women, but nor do I care about porn anymore! I just have no sexual urges, regardless of the method of delivery.

I don't know If I should be, but I'm happy about this, lol. For the first time in a long time, sex is not the only thing on my mind, and, not gonna lie, it feels good.

This is the perfect timing in my opinion, as I'm taking the MCAT in the next two months, and if this were a year ago, I'd be watching porn/ fapping instead of studying. I am starting another no PMO journey, and this time I think it's going to be permanent.

Did anybody else find that porn doesn't have the same effects any longer after a relapse? Or it just doesn't do it for you anymore? Thanks guys.

NOTE: I don't advise "testing" yourselves to see if you feel the same. I don't want to be responsible for any relapses lol.

You've never watched it? Or just not on your relapse?

I can relate to your discovery in the sense that PMO doesn't have the same intrigue and excitement as it once did for me, proving that my recovery is well on its way, but the thought of watching P while engaging in M does entice me to a certain extent and I wouldn't doubt that my experience relapsing would be oh so pleasurable.

I've started finding the same thing, nearly a week in, I think it's my mind set that has also changed, but even thinking about looking at P almost turns me off now.
I used to go on the computer and look at P for hours at a time, but now I think about it and that's all it is, a split second thought that no longer equates to anything.
I just don't feel any attraction to it anymore

Now just to develop the balance that is a healthy sexual lifestyle. Whatever you do, don't let yourself stay in that stony state; it's almost as bad as the flip end of the spectrum (sexual overdrive).

Glad to see I'm not the only one. By the way Beauty, looks like we've both reset on the same day. In it to win it.

Thanks for the input Weiland. I'm studying for the next two months, I'm gonna kill two birds with one stone and use this time to rewire (learning/studying promotes neuron growth), and obviously without PMO. After the 90 days are up I'm gonna try to pursue some real life women and rewire further, lol.

Great to see your progress Neuro. We should learn from everything that happens - even the "failures". My experience has been a bit different maybe by being (I guess) a bit older than most guys here. I didn't experience any flatline that I was aware of but quite quickly became much more interested in the real thing rather than the fake and that has continued. It's been good for me, good for my marriage and - I would like to imagine - good for society and the universe. Strengthening The Force or something like that. But seriously the more of us on this journey the more likely it is that the word will seep out and get more public awareness. Then maybe we'll see a turn of the tide in social values against the porn monster. So our kids and their kids might stand more of a chance. That's my hope anyway.

    Thanks Madrilenio,

I definitely try to learn from past mistakes, but sometimes I let them get the best of me, and I keep re-living them in my head. It's hard to move past them sometimes. PMO is definitely one of my biggest mistakes I've made, and I think I'd be a much different man by now had I stayed away from it.

It is what it is though, and at least I've identified my fault and I'm addressing it.

I definitely think you have an advantage by being a bit older. You (probably) didn't grow up with high-speed internet porn like we did. We got instant gratification while you had to practice a bit more patience. I didn't get high speed internet until I was about 16-17, and that's when my PMO usage really started to take off. That's why I'm even more scared for this younger generation, who pretty much all have broadband.

Yes - that's true so the challenge and danger is growing all the time. That's why it's so important that we take a stand for the next generation. Being where I am now I would be much more confident in speaking out even in company than in the past. The porn industry is powerful and maybe will be for a long time however, like in connection with smoking, at least if people are informed they can make a choice.
