Why Wont the Temptations Stop

Discussion in 'Rebooting - Porn Addiction Recovery' started by Deleted Account, Dec 28, 2017.

  1. Shit. Can I just go one damn day without any temptations? Its been nearly a week since I have been able to go one day with 0 temptations. Although the temptations are quite low its still really annoying. It knows that I have failed on day 4s and so on in the past but I am ready to move on. I am sick and tired of relapsing. This is my new life now. Man completing this 7 day challenge will be so much of a help to me. Why? Because it ends on December 31st when I can kiss 2017 goodbye and on a good note.

You're got a reward system that's out of whack. Normal stuff that makes you feel stressed, anxious, or upset used to be countered by the maladjusted dompamine delivery system you had going from PMOing. But now, you're not doing that. So instead, when you feel stressed, anxious, or upset, your body is sending you urges via old pathways to get dopamine. Which, is telling you to PMO. But since your trying not to do that, all that does is add to the stress. So it's a bit of a negative cycle you're stuck in so long as your attention is on your urges.

I'd recommend trying to break it by keeping small things to amuse yourself or divert your attention. Books, games(as long as they're away from the internet), or exercise. Also, be kind to yourself and acknowledge this will involve discomfort, and that's ok. Don't try and fight against the discomfort, just let it pass through you and try and relax. Easier said than done, but still.

    Best of luck!
