This is my first post, although as the wife of someone suffering with porn addiction, I have been coming here for a while. I won’t go into detail too much right now I just had a small thought I wanted to share about my experience with PA.

So, I just got back home after I went to my husbands rescue bc he was stranded on the side of the road on his way home. Long story short, he had simply ran out of gas and a panic ensued. He has been trying to quit PMO and the last 2 days have been hard. Although he is extremely reluctant to ever tell me what is really on his mind, I know the signs. I feel like his mind has been on nothing but porn and/or masturbation and he is severely depressed. He is oblivious to his surroundings when he feels like this. Which brings me to my point..

The simple trip to rescue my husband was no big deal. But isn’t it funny how PA can disrupt so much of our lives in little ways we don’t even notice or see. His mind was not on getting gas..

    Thanks for listening

Speaking as someone who's suffered from undiagnosed anxiety for years, the porn was my way of dealing with my problems. I finally realized that the reason I kept failing to break my addiction to porn was because I wasn't aware of or treating the underlying anxiety. Your husband is very lucky to have someone as supportive as you. I hope he's able to sort out his depression without using porn.

I guess that goes for any addiction, that one function of getting whatever it is one is addicted to takes precedence over everything else, including the essentials. It gets blown out of proportion and taken out of its natural context.
