I was reading an answer on Yahoo Answers and they said that it's apparently "impossible" to stop masturbation (maybe because he's guilty of masturbating himself). Is it really impossible? What do you guys think? I personally don't think it's impossible because it matters about that individual and their will-power and dedication towards achieving something. I am on Day 20 currently and I don't want to let comments such as: "it's impossible to stop masturbating" (it wasn't a comment addressed to me) get to me.

    Thank you. Enjoy your week!

EDIT: that is what I am aiming for as well (to stop forever) and I am currently on Day 20 - so, don't have the impression that I am a part-timer stopping masturbation/porn for a short time because I want to stop forever as well!

Of course it's possible. That is what I'm aiming for and honestly, that should be the goal of everybody here. 90 days is just a milestone, an estimate of how long it will take you to recover.
Sex and masturbation with a partner is different. Once a person has fully rebooted, they will probably a part of his/her life. But not to porn or any sort of artificial stimulation. That is a disease we are trying to eradicate.

Of course it's possible. Like you said, it's up to the individual.

It sounds like this person is saying "I don't want to really try to do this, so it must be impossible." Don't let it get you down.

@ds112358: that is true. My goal, like yours, and I'm hoping others on here is to stop masturbation/porn forever (currently on Day 20 so I have stopped so far). For the time being my counter says 60 days - if I beat 60 days, I go on to 90 and then 120 and so on.

@themreman: thank you. Very true; I will not let it get to me.

It's possible. Just because most people do not succeed at something does not make it unattainable.

Of course it's possible to stop masturbating forever. It's a long, daring road only the brave and courageous walk. Don't expect people to agree and walk along beside you.

Most people are weak and cowardly. Though I believe we all have the power to be strong.

Most people are afraid of change. Afraid to let go of comforts, to step out against the grain. Although every great human in history has done this. And every great human was judged and persecuted by cowards.

Fear and making excuses. Saying something is impossible is a quick and easy way to take the onus of failure off yourself.

"No one could do this! It's certainly not my fault I failed, doing this is just impossible!"

Sounds like that was Mr. Yahoo's approach. And I'm no stranger to it, I've caught myself saying the same thing when something doesn't go the way I want. Something I know I have to work on. But shifting the blame doesn't help anything. Sometimes we just need to accept that we can fail, and learn from it.

Fear, doubt, uncertainty, are all killers. Push them aside, assert yourself. I hate to use this acronym, but YOLO. You only live once, you don't have another chance at today. There is absolutely no reason or justification to be fearful.

Yeah I agree. Accepting we can fail means accepting we can succeed as well. We take the power.

I've been fighting this silly habit since childhood. I always thought: "even if it's impossible for me I shall die fighting it." Now I think I am on my way to beat it - the last thing I needed was accountability, friends like I have here.

IMO pornfree is possible and should be done. MO without porn sometimes is ok, imo!

What if your society sees you having sex with a partner you're not married to as an obscene act? Would stopping masturbation and pornography be possible then?

  20. I'm assuming this question is hypothetical since many people do that regardless.

And yes, it would be possible. I don't believe that people are bound by boundries such as addiction and controlling sexual urges. You're limited by boundries you impose on yourself.
