Possible Problems/Withdrawls Advice?

Discussion in 'Rebooting - Porn Addiction Recovery' started by Maximus Decimus Meridius, Aug 31, 2018.

  1. Hello all. I'm going to get right into the details. I am on day 35 as of today. Things have been relatively smooth sailing. I have definitely been in the midst of a flat line and am struggling with motivation etc all that. However, I have also been suffering from debilitating headaches, dizziness and lightheadedness for the past two and a half weeks or so. I have had CT and MRI scans done, they show nothing. All vitals are normal, and no signs of infection. Just these awful headaches and pressure in my head. Also very exhausted and suffering from insomnia struggling to get 4 hours of sleep most nights unless I take a significant antihistamine to knock me out. I am prone to migraines, and saw a neurologist who said that she thinks that it might be prolonged migraines, but also could be viral, but she really doesn't know. It isnt presenting how I have had migraines in the past and has been much longer in duration. Has anyone experienced anything similar, and is it even plausible to suggest that this could be dopamine withdrawl related? I'm seeking other treatment so don't worry, I am not just asking the internet for medical advice lol. Any thoughts or insights would be greatly appreciated! Best of luck to everyone as they continue on their road to recovery!

How is your diet during the flatline phase?

  3. Has not been terrible per say but not hugely clean. I have been making a point to eat a lot of antioxidant rich foods. I usually work out a lot but have not lifted weights in 2 weeks due to these headaches. One of the times before I had headaches I blew a blood vessel in my nose and they thought that might be related to the issues I was having but it was not just poor breath control. I have definitely been eating a lot of vegetables and leafy greens. I have been avoiding processed sugars as they have been a trigger for migraines in the past.

Wow, same here, actually! It might be the readjustment phase, as the dopamine you are used to may have an effect on the circadian rhythm, which is preventing you from sleeping. I have been having headaches as well, and they are not of the typical variety, as I have them primarily in the morning and are accompanied by both heat and pressure.

So, here's what you may want to do:
FORCE yourself not to look at any blue-light producing devices 1 hour prior to your expected sleep time. Use this time to meditate, visualize recover, etc.
Try to do a very high intensity exercise segment within 4 hours of sleeping. Make sure you are studying throughout the day in case your studying effectiveness is reduced from the exercise. The exercise releases endorphins that may interact with the dopamine cell receptors, although I must admit I am not entirely read on the subject. Either way, instead of PMO, you are generating a "high" from your exercise routine, which may lead to satisfaction and your brain will allow you to sleep.

The subconscious brain is extremely potent, as many can control their daytime urges, but it is difficult to control unconscious urges while sleeping. I've heard of a few anecdotes in which individuals have refrained from a wet dream wile unconscious. Have you had any experiences with NoFap during your sleep cycle while unconscious? Cheers on the journey ahead, man, and keep going no matter what. Seriously.

  5. Hang in there brother, the flatlines are gonna come and go. I've broken through to the light at the end of the tunnel one time before and I can tell you, the negatives you're feeling now are nothing compared to the heights you'll eventually reach. Keep it up

Headaches/migraines have been by far my biggest physical symptom of withdrawal. Like you, I'm also prone to migraines (exercise induced) and they've become WAY more frequent during the reboot. I also have been dealing with an entirely new type of daily, chronic headache that comes and goes. I've also done tests that came back clean. I honestly don't think it's a coincidence man. The withdrawal can fuck with your body and brain in a lot of different ways- everybody seems to have different symptoms.

My theory is that somehow the withdrawal is exacerbating the migraine symptoms that we're already prone to. It's really hard to know for sure though man. As I'm sure you know, migraines are not very well understood. Withdrawal from porn is even less understood so we're in a pretty tough spot.

I've been supplementing with magnesium citrate and a mix of butterbur/feverew with some success. Also look into riboflavin and CoQ10. The supplements may or may not help you but I think it's definitely worth a shot. Believe me I know exactly how debilitating and frustrating headaches and migraines can be.

Definitely keep running different tests and go to specialists if you have good insurance and can afford it but if you still can't come up with any answers then know that withdrawal can most definitely be the culprit. The good news is that everything is temporary, you just gotta keep riding out the storm.

  7. I am 36 days in and have similar symptoms. I hope it goes away fast.

  8. thanks

  9. Thanks for the advise. I have been using Magnesium, Fish Oils, B2 vitamins, and alpha lipoic acid. Will definitely look into riboflavin and CoQ10.

    I just hit
I'm 127 days in and my migraines have just started to subside. I've had a migraine for several years that affected one of my eyes. I'm back positive it was due to PMO. I'm just now getting to the point where my vision is clearing along with the headaches. I'm using my and butterbur too and it seems to be helping. Hope you're getting better.

Hi there, just saw your streak and was wondering if you may have had any wet dream issues during your time abstaining? If so, do you have any advice on preventing wet dreams? Thanks in advance.

    Hey!

Yes, I have had a couple of wet dreams during the journey. But it's been a while now. I think that wet dreams comes from thinking of too much sex during the day. A cold shower on the balls seems to help and make sure that you take a piss before you go to sleep (a full bladder can trigger a wet dreams, just what I believe)
