Hello there, I'm new to this forum and thought I'd put in my 2 cents. I must admit I think I'm a better sex partner for my wife because of some of the porn I've watched. I'm not 100% sure on this, but you can learn technique by watching others. Of course there are also down sides because of the addictive nature of porn. I've been thinking perhaps the best way to watch porn is to do it with your partner, not alone, and only once in a while. My wife can enjoy porn if she is horny, and if it is tasteful. Just like how 95% of pop music is crap, there is that 5% that is good quality. Anyways, I may be wrong, but I think there may be room for exploring erotic material with an intimate partner. I think that is a very different thing than doing it alone, as an escape.

 

Well, internet porn can definitely be a dark rabbit hole, because the click-bait nature of it. And just like many drugs it seems that to get the same dopamine (or whatever it is) rush requires more and more extreme stuff until you find yourself in front of images that normally you would be repulsed by. That is certainly the worst aspect of it. Some of it is real evil shit.

Though I don't completely agree that Porn is addictive, what I do believe is that it's harmful, unhealthy, and abnormal.

My answer would be no, though my perspective may have been skewed by the fact that I spent a lot of years using it to (attempt) escape from reality.

 

My experience has been that porn use has gotten worse as I have aged.
(1) porn has become "better" with technology and booming industry
(2) lower hormones means more porn is required to PMO
(3) porn become boring so escalation to more interesting porn becomes necessary

 

Porn is only addictive to a person which has an addictive personality, that means emotional deprivation or emotional abuse in the early childhood. Emotionally healthy people are usually not becoming addictive.

Hmmm. I can only speak from my own experience. I'm 52. I first started PMOing when I was in college. The sex drive was much stronger, but the process of PMO took less time. There were only magazines back then, and they were pretty expensive (and embarrassing to buy). My sex drive today is nearly gone, but PMO has become a lot worse for me. There is so much porn and p-sub available for free, and it takes so much more time and effort invested in PMO to experience any thrill today.

Basically though, I think teenagers shouldn't count on the PMO problem going away in a few years like it's an adolescent problem. I don't know what the answer is though.

Yes, to me they both are.

Even alcohol is addictive and unhealthy, but luckily i've never been into it.

The problem is, are you in risk to get addicted from one of this substances? If you're a risky person, you have your answer. And if someone is on this forum, yes, porn is absolutely addictive in all forms.
